Dallastown, Eastern York pick up pivotal field hockey triumphs over the weekend

The Dallastown and Eastern York field hockey teams picked up pivotal York-Adams League wins over the weekend.

Dallastown took a major step toward a York-Adams League Division I championship on Saturday morning. The Wildcats took a 2-1 overtime decision over visiting New Oxford in a crossover battle of unbeaten division leaders. Annabella Fimmano scored both Dallastown goals.

The Wildcats are now 10-0 in 2020 and have a two-game lead in the loss column in D-I. New Oxford dropped to 8-1 in D-II. Dallastown has three games left in its league season vs. Red Lion (5-5), Spring Grove (2-8) and Central (9-2). If the Wildcats can win two of those three matches, they will assure themselves of the outright D-I crown.

In the latest District 3 Class 3-A power ratings, Dallastown is No. 2, behind only Lower Dauphin (10-0-0). Central is No. 6 after a 4-1 win over Spring Grove on Friday. The top eight in the final power ratings will make the district 3-A field.

Despite the loss, New Oxford still has a two-game lead in the loss column in D-II over Susquehannock (7-3).

Big win for Eastern: In a key D-III contest on Friday, Eastern York grabbed a pivotal 3-2 overtime decision over Kennard-Dale.

Becca Bradfield's OT goal, off assists from Hannah Lentz and Lily Campbell, secured the win. It was Bradfield's second goal of the game. Tatum Livelsberger also scored for Eastern, while Elly Bankowski and Erika Kurnik had assists. K-D got goals from Corinne Sharnetzka and Madison Davidson. Kelsey Felix had 14 saves in the win.

Eastern took over the D-III lead at 7-3-0 (21 points). Gettysburg is now second at 6-3-2 (20 points) after a 1-1 tie vs. Littlestown on Friday. West York, after a 14-0 win vs. York Tech on Friday, is 6-3-1 (19 points).

Eastern, if it can sweep its three games this week vs. Littlestown (2-7-1), Gettysburg and Fairfield (1-9-0), will clinch the outright D-III title. Eastern is No. 9 in the latest District 3 1-A power ratings. The top eight in the final ratings will make the district playoffs.

Bermudian Springs (10-0-0) appears well on its way to another D-IV crown. Biglerville is second in D-IV at 7-2-1.
