PREP: York Suburban field hockey team holds off Eastern York for 2-1 victory


York Suburban scored two first-half goals and then made it stand up in a 2-1 field hockey victory over visiting Eastern York on Wednesday, Sept. 13.

Abbey Probert and Caitlyne Mackin scored for the Trojans, while Kelsey Felix scored on a second-half penalty stroke for Eastern.

Eastern York goalie Emily Bodien had five saves, while Suburban's Natalie Fuhrman had two saves, including a key save on a breakaway attempt in the closing seconds to preserve the win.

Suburban won the JV match, 3-1.



Central York 8, Spring Grove 0: At Central, Bree Craley had four goals and two assists to power the Panthers. Rachel Leiphart added two goals for the winners, while Kyra Heap and Abby Lamison also scored. Shae Strange added three assists for Central. Central won the JV game, 1-0.

Red Lion 3, New Oxford 0: At Red Lion, Isabell Kocman led the Lions to the victory by scoring one goal and adding two assists. Peyton Shima scored one goal and added one assist, while Jordan Sleeth scored one goal and Allie Anderson made five stops in goal to record the shutout. New Oxford won the JV match, 1-0.

West York 1, Dover 0: At Dover, Nicole Conley scored the only goal of the game. West York goalie Marlene Sanchez made seven saves. Dover's Veronica Talton made six saves. Dover won the JV match, 1-0.

Bermudian Springs 4, Kennard-Dale 0: At Fawn Grove, Skyler West led the Eagles by recording a hat trick. Bermudian won the JV match, 2-0.


Kennard-Dale 4, West York 1: At Fawn Grove, the Rams received singles victories from Brianna Miller, Genevieve Ostmann and Sarah Gross. Megan Hawkins and Meghan Silva combined to win the No. 1 doubles match. For the Bulldogs, Sarah DePasquale and Chloe Hoover combined to win the No. 2 doubles match. 

York Catholic 4, Bermudian Springs 1: At York Springs, the Irish received singles victories from Annie Stich and Abby Wurzbach, while Natalie Kerchner and Clare Brennan combined to win the No. 1 doubles match, and Abby Brenneman and Lilly Cartwright combined to win the No. 2 doubles match.


Dover 3, Susquehannock 0: At Glen Rock, the Eagles won, 25-18, 25-23, 25-17. Dover got 10 kills and 10 digs from Chayce Hoffman, 24 assists, 10 digs, four aces and three blocks from Abby Diehl, 10 kills from Emma Davis and 10 digs from Emma Nace. Susquehannock was led by Amber Bortner's 20 digs. Emily Sweitzer and Maddie Geiple each had 10 assists for Susky, while Nikki Gianzanti had 14 digs. Susquehannock won the JV match, 2-0.
