York-Adams sends 7 into district field hockey playoffs

  • Dallastown is the only York-Adams team in the 10-team 3-A field.
  • Susquehannock will meet Gettysburg in a first-round 2-A battle.
  • New Oxford is the No. 2 seed in the 16-team 2-A field.

Seven York-Adams League field hockey teams have earned District 3 playoff berths.

York-Adams League champion Dallastown (16-4) is the only local entry in the 10-team Class 3-A field, coming in as the seventh seed. In the first round at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Penn Manor, the Wildcats will battle 10th-seeded Central Dauphin (9-9). If Dallastown wins Wednesday, it will face second-seeded Palmyra (16-2) on Saturday, Oct. 29.

Three area teams made the 16-team 2-A field: No. 2 New Oxford (14-2), No. 5 Gettysburg (15-2-1) and No. 12 Susquehannock (11-8). In Wednesday's first round, New Oxford meets No. 15 Berks Catholic (11-7) at 5 p.m. at Bermudian Springs, while Gettysburg faces Susquehannock at 7 p.m. at Bermudian.

Three more York-Adams schools made the 14-team 1-A field: No. 3 Bermudian (17-2), No. 10 Littlestown (12-6-1) and No. 11 Kennard-Dale (11-5). In Wednesday's first round, Bermudian will take on No. 14 Bishop McDevitt (8-6-3) at 7 p.m. at York Suburban; Littlestown will battle No. 7 Newport (14-4) at 7 p.m. at Lower Dauphin; and K-D takes on No. 6 Boiling Springs (12-5) at 5 p.m. at Suburban. If Littlestown wins, it will take on No. 2 seed Greenwood (16-2) on Saturday, Oct. 29.
