FIELD HOCKEY: Red Lion nips Central York in D-I battle

  • Emily Gillmen and Isabelle Kocman scored Red Lion's goals.

Emily Gillmen's goal with 12 minutes, 46 seconds left in the game lifted Red Lion to a 2-1 victory over Central York on Wednesday in a battle of York-Adams League Division I field hockey contenders.

Both teams entered the game at 5-2 overall and 4-1 in the division.

Isabelle Kocman scored the Lions' other goal, while Kynslee Shepherd had an assist.

Breann Craley scored for Central, off an assist from Kyra Heap.

Both goalies (Central's Emily Smith and Red Lion's Jena Everett) made four saves.

Red Lion had a 9-3 edge in shots, while Central had a 6-5 edge in corners.

Red Lion also won the JV match, 1-0.



Dallastown 5, Spring Grove 0: At Dallastown, the Wildcats had little trouble with the Rockets. Molly Lohss scored twice for Dallastown, while Nicole Cumling, Caroline Doll and Raelene Copello also added goals. Spring Grove goalie Camille Lecrone made 14 saves.

Kennard-Dale 9, York Suburban 0: At Suburban, the visitors rolled behind big games from Emmie Dressel (four goals, one assist), Calie Swegon (goal, three assists), Jenna Soukaseaum (two goals) and Morgan Bowings (goal, assist). Suburban goalie Eliana Craft made 18 saves. K-D's Lauren Lisek made three saves to get the shutout.

Northeastern 1, Dover 0: At Manchester, Kendra Meyer scored the lone goal of the match. Teammate Alli Shindler made four stops in goal to record the shutout. For the Eagles, Casey Keener made six saves in goal.

Susquehannock 5, Eastern York 0: At Glen Rock, Brooke Morris had a hat trick to lead the Warriors. Ellie Lindauer and Abby Grimm also scored. Susquehannock had a 10-0 edge in shots on goal.

South Western 1, West York 0: At Hanover, Jessica Sillyman scored the game's only goal. For the Bulldogs, Paige Weekly made four stops in goal. South Western won the JV match, 2-1.

Gettysburg 2, Bermudian Springs 0: At Gettysburg, the Warriors received one goal apiece from Taylor Tuhy and Kailey Mixell.

Hanover 3, Biglerville 1: At Hanover, Maddie Dell scored one goal and added one assist to lead the Hawkettes.

Littlestown 6, Delone Catholic 1: At Littlestown, Alexis Morey led the Thunderbolts by scoring three goals and adding two assists. Littlestown won the JV match, 3-0.
