CROSS COUNTRY: Timmy Buzynski leads Central York boys to pair of team victories

  • The Central York boys' and girls' cross country teams each went 2-0 on Thursday.
  • Central's Timmy Buzynski won the boys' race in 17:37.
  • Central's Kendall Smith won the girls' race in 20:50.

Timmy Buzynski led the Central York boys' cross country team to pair of season-opening victories over South Western (19-44) and York Tech (15-76) on Thursday, Sept. 7, at Rudy Park.

Buzynski took first place individually in 17 minutes, 37 seconds.


Also for Central, Cole Harris took third, followed by Jacob Montgomery and Austin McQuaide.

The Mustangs took second by defeating Tech (19-52). Tim Shoul led the Mustangs with a second-place finish.

In the girls' meet, Kendall Smith led the Panthers to victories over South Western (23-33) and Tech (15-50) by taking first in 20:50.

Also for Central, Bridget Palm took third and Olivia Gemma took fifth. The Mustangs took second by defeating Tech (15-50). Sarah Forry led the Mustangs with a second-place finish, while Alyssa Bentzel took fourth.



Gable leads the way for Wildcats: At Northeastern Middle School, Bryce Gable led the Wildcats to victories over Northeastern (25-31), Fairfield (19-42), Littlestown (15-50) and Kennard-Dale (20-39) by taking first in 17:21. Teammate Rory McCleary took fourth. Northeastern came in second with wins over Fairfield (19-37), K-D (22-35) and Littlestown (15-50). Ben Kelly led the Bobcats by taking second, while teammate Noah Hake took third. The Rams took third place by defeating Fairfield (25-30) and Littlestown (15-44). Collin Wolfe led the Rams by taking fifth. The Green Knights took fourth by defeating Littlestown (15-50). 

Squires roll to pair of wins: At York Springs, the Squires had three of the top five finishers to earn wins over Bermudian (23-36) and West York (21-38). The Bulldogs beat Bermudian (25-34). Bermudian's Chad Long finished first. A trio of Delone runners finished second, third and fourth in Adler Brininger, Gabe Hall and Shamus Keefe. Jackson Miller of West York rounded out the top five.

Schlosser leads Irish to victories: At Dover, Evan Schlosser led the Irish by taking first in 17:46. York Catholic defeated Susquehannock (27-29), Eastern York (18-40), Dover (21-39) and Red Lion (24-31). Teammate Ryan Corbitt took third. The Warriors took second by defeating Eastern York (18-44), Dover (21-40) and Red Lion (25-30). Eric Younkin led the Warriors by taking second, while Sam Pugliese took fourth. The Lions took third by defeating Dover (23-38) and Eastern York (19-42). Mason Meads led the Lions by taking fifth. The Golden Knights took fourth by defeating Dover (25-32).



Schuler leads the Wildcats to victories: At Northeastern Middle School, Emily Schuler led the Wildcats to victories over Northeastern (26-33), Fairfield (15-50), Littlestown (15-50), and Kennard-Dale (15-50) by taking first in 19:10. Teammate Allison Myers took fourth. The Bobcats came in second by defeating Littlestown (15-50), K-D (16-44), and Fairfield (15-50). Maddie Warrender took second, while teammate Margaret Carroll took third. The Rams came in third by defeating Littlestown (15-50) and Fairfield (15-50). Fairfield and Littlestown forfeited against each other.

Delone goes 2-0: At York Springs, the Squirettes raced to a first-place finish, followed by the Bulldogs and then the Eagles. The duo of Leanne Sneeringer and Becky Hernandez finished 1-2 for Delone to pace it to wins over Bermudian (21-40) and West York (23-34). Berm’s Rebecca Durbin was third. West York’s Emily Sweitzer was fourth.

Lions capture first place: At Dover, the Lions defeated Dover (17-40), Susquehannock (16-50), York Catholic (23-36) and Eastern York (25-35). Mera D'Aquila led the Lions with a fourth-place finish, while teammate Kiersten Lloyd took fifth. York Catholic, Eastern York and Dover all each tied for second by going 2-2. Individually for the Golden Knights, Maddie McLain took first in 18:54, while teammate Olivia McLain took second. For the Irish, Katelyn MacDougall took third.
