CROSS COUNTRY: Irish girls, Bobcat boys excel

  • The York Catholic girls and Northeastern boys took home the team wins.

The York Catholic girls and Northeastern boys were the team winners on Tuesday in a cross country quad meet at Spring Grove.

In the girls' meet, Katelyn MacDougall led the Irish to victories over Northeastern (23-38), Spring Grove (21-38) and Bermudian (15-48) by taking first in 21 minutes, 23 seconds. Teammate Kayleigh Pokrivka took fifth. Northeastern came in second. Rose Rush led the Bobcats with a second-place finish, while teammate Micaela Bradley came in third. Spring Grove came in third and Bermudian was fourth. Morgan Lint led the Rockets with a fourth-place finish.


In the boys' meet, the Bobcats narrowly defeated Spring Grove (28-29), while grabbing easier wins over York Catholic (20-41) and Bermudian (24-37). Ben Kelly and Noah Hall led the Bobcats individually by taking third and fourth. The Rockets came in second. Tristan Smyser led the Rockets by taking second. The Eagles came in third, while York Catholic was fourth. Bermudian was led by Chad Long, who finished first in 17:33. For the Irish, Evan Schlosser took fifth.



Panthers capture first: At John Rudy Park, Central York took first by easily defeating Gettysburg, Susquehannock and Fairfield. Bridget Palm led the Panthers by taking second, while teammates Olivia Gemma came in third and Paige Hartman took fourth. Gettysburg came in second, followed by Fairfield and Susquehannock. Lindsey Lytle led the Green Knights by taking first in 20:43.

Wildcats pack top-10 in win: The Dallastown girls’ cross country team had six of the top eight finishers in its meet to capture first. The only non-Wildcats to finish in the top eight were the McLain sisters from Eastern York, with Maddie finishing first and Olivia taking sixth. The Golden Knights finished second behind Dallastown, followed by South Western, West York and Biglerville.

Ohl sparks Trojans: At Dover, Courtney Ohl led York Suburban to victories over Dover, York Tech and Littlestown by taking first in 22:28. Also for Suburban, Zette Pflaum took second, Cecilla Lantz took third, Emma Trout took fourth and Sarah Murray came in fifth. Dover came in second, followed by Tech and Littlestown.



Buzynski leads Panthers: At John Rudy Park, Timmy Buzynski led the Central York Panthers to victories over Gettysburg, Susquehannock and Fairfield by taking first in 18:20. Teammates Cole Harris came in second, Austin McQuaide took third and Jacob Montgomery was fifth. Gettysburg came in second, followed by Fairfield and Susquehannock.

Dallastown sweeps home meet: Finishing with the two fastest runners, the Dallastown Wildcats took home first in their home meet. Patrick Jacobson won the meet in 19:29, while teammate Bryce Gable was just behind him in 19:26. South Western took second in the meet, followed by Eastern York, West York and Biglerville.

Wagner powers Trojans to first-place finish: At Dover, Peter Wagner led York Suburban to victories over Dover, York Tech and Littlestown by taking first in 18:21. Also for Suburban, Josh Kerr took second overall, while Byrce Ohl came in third, Tanner Haynes came in fourth and Jarrett Raudensky took fifth. Dover came in second, followed by Littlestown and York Tech.
