Three Central York boys' volleyball players have earned all-state recognition.

The Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association has announced its Class 3-A all-state honorees.

The Panthers to get recognized were Cole Johnson, Braden Richard and Brock Anderson.

It is the second straight season that Johnson and Richard have earned all-state honors.

Johnson is 6-foot, 7-inch outside hitter who is set to play for national powerhouse UCLA.

Richard is a 6-5 outside hitter/middle hitter who will be a senior on the 2019 Panthers' team in the spring.

Anderson is a 6-foot setter who will be a junior next season.

No team placed more than three players on the 2018 3-A all-state team, which recognized 32 players from across the state. Ten of those players came from District 3.

Johnson, Richard and Anderson helped Central to a second-place finish in the York-Adams League (behind 2-A state champion Northeastern), a third-place finish in District 3 Class 3-A and a state 3-A semifinal berth.

The Panthers finished ranked No. 3 in the final PVCA Class 3-A  state poll.

In all, York County produced nine PVCA all-state players in 2018. The 2-A team had been announced earlier.

Northeastern had five players honored in 2-A (Cole Brillhart, Jacob Cheuvront, Wyatt Hughes, Alex Finch and Austin Richards) and York Suburban had one (Nate Bowman).

In addition, the PVCA also released the District 3 Class 3-A All-Star Team. Twenty players made that team. Johnson, Richard and Anderson were also selected for that squad.
