VOLLEYBALL: Koller run moves Dallastown to No. 6 in 3-A
- Dallastown lost in the finals of the Koller Classic boys' volleyball tournament on Saturday.
- That run helped the Wildcats earn a No. 6 ranking in the state in Class 3-A.
- Dallastown is one of four York-Adams teams to earn a top-10 ranking.
The Dallastown boys' volleyball team fell just short of winning the Koller Classic on Saturday night, losing in the finals to Hempfield, 25-19, 25-21.
That run to the championship match in one of the most prestigious high school invitationals in the state, however, impressed the members of the Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association.
The Wildcats surged up to No. 6 in the most recent PVCA Class 3-A state poll. Dallastown had been ranked in the top 10 earlier in the season before dropping out of the rankings in recent weeks.
Dallastown continued to roll on Tuesday night with a 25-13, 25-15, 25-15 York-Adams League victory at Eastern York. The Wildcats improved to 8-3 overall and 5-2 in the league. Dallastown got a big day from Peyton Ranck, as he collected 27 assists, while Nathan Darr added eight kills and 10 digs. Eastern York’s big performer was Greg Houck, who finished with 13 assists, while Tim Leaman had 10 digs. Dallastown also won the JV match, 2-0.
Dallastown is now one of four York-Adams League teams to have a top-10 ranking.
Northeastern, which fell to Penn Manor in the Koller quarterfinals, continues to be No. 1 in 2-A, while York Suburban maintained its No. 4 ranking. Suburban fell to Pennsbury in the second round of the Koller event.
In Class 3-A, Central York moved up from No. 4 to No. 2 after advancing to the Koller semifinals, where it lost to Hempfield.
The Black Knights, after winning the Koller crown, moved up from No. 5 to No. 1 in 3-A.

Central York 3, Susquehannock 0: At Central York, the Panthers won the home match, 25-11, 25-14, 25-4. Ben Seebold led the Panthers with 14 kills and three aces. Also for Central, Braden Richard had 11 aces, five kills and five digs, Cole Johnson had five kills and six digs and Carter Luckenbaugh had 30 assists and five digs. The Panthers improved to 6-0 in the York-Adams League. Central won the JV match, 25-13, 25-18.
Northeastern 3, Dover 0: At Dover, the Bobcats won the match, 25-15, 25-15, 25-22. James Toomey led the Bobcats with seven kills and three digs. Also for Northeastern, Jacob Cheuvront had 24 assists, Cole Brillhart had eight kills and Austin Richards had 15 assists and three kills. The Bobcats improved to 6-0 in York-Adams League action. For the Eagles, Hunter Shank had seven kills, Zach Noll had 11 assists and J.T. Crossan had six digs. Northeastern won the JV match, 2-0.
Spring Grove 3, New Oxford 1: Noah Wilson had a team-high 15 kills and Luke Hoffnagle added 20 assists and the Rockets won, 26-24, 19-25, 25-23, 25-13. Wilson also added 12 digs and three aces, while Hoffnagle also posted 19 digs, a kill and an ace. Alex Neiderer had 16 kills, 11 digs and three blocks for the Colonials.
Kennard-Dale 3, West York 0: At Fawn Grove, the Rams picked up a big win over the Bulldogs, sweeping them, 25-22, 25-17, 25-20. John Enders had 17 assists for K-D, while Luke Criswell had nine digs and Jack Whitt served four aces. West York got 11 assists from Jacob May and 14 kills from Kenton Meckley. West York swept the JV match, 2-0.
York Suburban 3, Red Lion 0: At Suburban, the Trojans won, 25-14, 25-21, 25-21. Zach Weinstein led the Trojans with four kills, 16 digs and nine assists. Also for Suburban, Noah Chojnacki had 10 assists and five digs, Nate Bowman had five kills and seven digs and Declan Ridings had five kills and five blocks. For the Lions, Blake Hildebrand had 10 kills, while Chris Muller had 14 assists and John Janowiak had three kills and three blocks. Suburban won the JV match, 2-0.
