The top two boys' volleyball teams in the York-Adams League are headed for a regular-season-ending showdown.
Northeastern and Central York each cruised to 3-0 victories on Tuesday night. Northeastern improved to 13-0 overall and 10-0 in the league. Central is 10-1 and 9-1.
The two teams will meet at 7:15 p.m. Thursday at Northeastern. If the Bobcats win, they'll take the outright regular-season crown. If the Panthers win, they'll get a piece of the regular-season championship.
Northeastern, the three-time defending PIAA Class AA state champion, comes in ranked No. 1 in the latest Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association poll. Central, meanwhile, is No. 3 in the AAA poll.
On Tuesday at West York, the Bobcats won the match, 25-6, 25-9, 25-13. Dakoda Hoffman led the Bobcats with seven kills and three blocks. Also for Northeastern, Matt Schaeffer had 19 assists, Jacob Cheuvront had 10 assists and three aces and Jeff Reynolds had seven kills. For the Bulldogs, Jacob May had six assists, while Sam Lovelace and Edwin Quintanilla each had had five digs. Northeastern won the JV match, 25-6, 25-18.
At Central, the Panthers beat Eastern York, 25-10, 25-13, 25-6. Hayden Wagner led the Panthers with 10 kills and three blocks. Also for Central, Carter Luckenbaugh had 27 assists and five digs, Benjamin Seebold had eight kills and Cole Johnson had seven kills. For the Golden Knights, Tyler Winters had five digs, Greg Houck had six assists and Mike Shoff had three digs. Central won the JV match, 25-22, 25-23.
Red Lion 3, Susquhannock 0: At Glen Rock, Dillon Hildebrand led the Lions to the 25-19, 25-19, 25-20 victory with 13 kills and nine digs. Also for the Lions, Bennett Frey had 14 assists and seven digs, Cole Brillhart had 12 kills and eight digs and Levi Davis had 16 assists and three digs. For the Warriors, Quinlan Kauffman had eight kills, three aces and five digs, while Steve Rouse had 21 assists and three digs and Nate Trego had six kills and five digs.
Spring Grove 3, Kennard-Dale 2: At Spring Grove, the Rockets rallied from 2-1 down against the Rams to win, 25-17, 21-25, 15-25, 26-24, 15-11. Spring Grove’s Luke Huffnagle had a 17-dig and 15-kill night, while Mason Staub (24) and Aaron Miller (19) combined for 43 assists. K-D’s Kyle Wooldridge had 20 kills and Josiah McConville converted six aces, while also passing for 40 assists.
York Suburban 3, Dover 0: At Dover, the Trojans won the match, 25-9, 25-19, 25-14. Kaleb Ansell led the Trojans with 27 assists and six digs. Also for Suburban, Sepehr Vakili had seven kills and three digs, Nick Bowman had 12 digs and Ian Firestone had seven kills. For the Eagles, J.T. Crossan had five kills, while Najah Fink had four kills and Dakota Dehoff had three kills. Suburban won the JV match, 22-25, 25-21, 15-6.
