BOYS' VOLLEYBALL: Northeastern wins, but it's not easy


The Northeastern boys' volleyball team is still unbeaten, but Tuesday's victory over Red Lion was anything but easy.

The three-time defending PIAA Class AA state champion Bobcats won 25-23, 25-22, 25-23 to improve to 9-0 overall and 7-0 in the York-Adams League. Red Lion fell to 7-3 and 5-2.


Northeastern is ranked No. 1 in the latest AA state rankings by the Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association.

On Tuesday, Northeastern's stat leaders were Matt Schaeffer (39 assists), Reese Devilbiss (14 kills), Brandon Arentz (nine kills) and Dakoda Hoffman (nine kills).

Red Lion was paced by Dillon Hildebrand (15 kills), Cole Brillhart (15 kills, eight digs), John Longnecker (10 digs, 33 assists) and Bennett Fry (nine digs).



Dallastown 3, Kennard-Dale 0: At Dallastown, the Wildcats cruised, 25-19, 25-13, 25-14. The Wildcats' stat leaders were Nathan Darr (nine kills, eight digs), Dylan Fry (26 digs) and Peyton Ranck (34 assists, eight digs). K-D was paced by Josiah McConville (21 assists, five digs, five kills), Luke Criswell (12 digs) and Kyle Wooldridge (seven kills). Dallastown took the JV match, 25-17, 12-25, 16-14.

York Suburban 3, Susquehannock 0: At Suburban, the Trojans won 25-22, 25-16, 25-19. Nick Bowman had 21 digs for Suburban, while Zach Weinstein and Sepehr Vakili each came up with 11 digs and combined for 27 kills. Susquehannock’s Quinlan Kauffman recorded 10 kills and 18 digs, while Steve Rouse had 19 assists.

Central York 3, Dover 0: At Dover, the Panthers rolled, 25-14, 25-6, 25-10. Central got 11 kills from Hayden Wagner and nine digs from Zak Kakos. Carter Luckenbaugh had 35 assists and seven digs. Dover was paced by Zach Noll's nine assists. Central won the JV match, 25-14, 25-22.

New Oxford 3, West York 0: At West York, the Colonials triumphed 25-19, 25-11, 25-18 behind 23 kills from Kameron Weinberg. John Wessel added 15 assists for the winners. Jacob May had 11 assists and four kills for West York, while Sam Lovelace had seven kills and five digs. New Oxford won the JV match, 25-18, 20-25, 15-9.

Spring Grove 3, Eastern York 1: At Wrightsville, Mason Staub had 11 kills and 10 digs, while Aaron Miller kept the offense moving with 29 assists as the Rockets defeated their hosts, 25-27, 25-19, 25-21, 25-18. Leading the way for Eastern York Shane Gephart with eight kills. Greg Houck had 23 assists for the Knights.
