The Central York boys’ volleyball team received a scare on Tuesday night, needing five sets to rally and defeat Dallastown on the road, 21-25, 25-13, 23-25, 25-18, 15-12.
A number of players had standout performances from both sides in the tight-knit affair. For the Panthers, Hayden Wagner had a monster 37-kill night, while Spencer Tate added 12 kills of his own. Carter Luckenbaugh passed for 57 assists and came up with 11 digs, while Zak Kakos came up with 17 digs and Wagner had 12.
The Wildcats got 20 kills from Aaron Ward and 10 from Nathan Darr, who also had 10 digs. Dylan Fry had 20 digs, as well, while Peyton Ranck had 49 assists.
Central entered the night ranked No. 4 in the state in Class AAA.
OTHER BOYS' VOLLEYBALL
Dover 3, Eastern York 0: At Wrightsville, the Eagles won the match, 25-19, 25-23, 25-22. Zach Noll led the visitors with 20 assists and four digs. Also for Dover, Najah Fink had seven kills, Andrew Hoffman had five kills and five digs and Matt Edgar had three kills and three blocks. For the Golden Knights, Jared Woods had eight kills and six digs, Greg Houck had 14 assists and Ryan Kalke had four kills and five digs. Eastern won the JV match, 25-15, 25-19.
Northeastern 3, Spring Grove 0: At Spring Grove, despite Reese Devilbiss not playing for the Bobcats, they still rolled past the Rockets, 25-14, 25-8, 25-17. Jeff Reynolds picked up the slack, finishing with 10 kills, while Brandon Arentz served three aces and Matt Schaeffer passed for 33 assists. Northeastern is ranked No. 1 in the state in AA. Luke Hoffnagle had 13 digs for Spring Grove.
York Suburban 3, West York 0: At Suburban, the Trojans only lost 32 points all night in their 25-9, 25-10, 25-13 win. Jack Schultz had 12 kills for Suburban and Kaleb Ansell had 36 assists. Jacob May finished with nine assists and Josh May had six digs. The Trojans entered the night ranked seventh in the state in Class AA.
Susquehannock 3, Kennard-Dale 0: At Fawn Grove, the Warriors rolled to a 25-14, 25-23, 26-24 win. No other details were reported.
Red Lion 3, New Oxford 0: At Red Lion, the home team swept the Colonials. No other details were available.
