A year after garnering its first-ever PIAA boys' lacrosse berth, the York-Adams League will send three teams to the state playoffs in 2018.

Going into Wednesday's action, Susquehannock and York Catholic had already sewn up Class 2-A state berths.

Eighth-seeded South Western joined them with a 13-9 triumph over seventh-seeded Lancaster Country Day in the fifth-place game at Red Lion. Five District 3 teams earned 2-A state berths, so it was a win-or-go-home game for the Mustangs (14-6). LCD finished 14-6.

Casey Slater (two goals, two assists), James Strausbaugh (three goals), Brady Dunn (three goals), Sam Slater (three assists), Jake Bollinger (two goals, assist) and Nick Race (nine saves) led South Western.

Fourth-seeded York Catholic (17-5), meanwhile, captured a 9-6 triumph over third-seeded Susquehannock (15-6) in the District 3 2-A third-place contest. It was the third time the two teams met this season. They split the previous two meetings.

Chandler Hake (three goals, assist), Dimitri Amalfitano (two goals), Cole Witman (goal, assist), Joey Fiorenza (goal, assist), Matthew Cassidy (goal, assist) and Jarred Kohl (eight saves) led the Irish.

Susquehannock's leaders were Colin Kernan (three goals) and Connor Kernan (19 saves).

All three Y-A teams are likely facing road trips when the state playoffs start Tuesday. York Catholic will face the District 12 champion, Susquehannock will take on the District 11 champion and South Western will meet the District 1 champion.

A year ago, Eastern York became the first Y-A team to get a state berth.
