By the closest of margins, the Red Lion girls' cross country team went unbeaten in a meet at York Township Park on Tuesday, Sept. 12.
The Lions and Northeastern tied, 29-29, but the Lions won by the tiebreaker — the best sixth-place finisher.
Red Lion also beat Gettysburg, West York and York Tech. Lily Hare led the Lions by finishing third. The Bobcats came in second, led by Margaret Carroll, who finished first in 20 minutes, 33 seconds. Also for Northeastern, Trinity Schraudner took second, while Maddie Warrender took fifth. Gettysburg came in third as a team, followed by West York and York Tech. Tech's Julia Atkins took fourth.
In the boys' meet, Gettysburg finished first, followed by Northeastern, Red Lion, West York and York Tech. Luke Milhimes led the Warriors with a second-place finish, while Bradley Filler took third and Andrew Hirneisen took fourth. Noah Hake led the Bobcats by taking first in 17:32. Teammate Ben Kelly took fifth.
Ohl leads the Trojans to first-place finish: At York Catholic, Bryce Ohl took first in 17:31 to lead the Trojans over Dallastown and York Catholic. Also for Suburban, Jarrett Raudensky took second, while Josh Kerr came in fourth and Tanner Haynes took fifth. The Irish defeated Dallastown. Dallastown's Bryce Gable took third.
Plotica powers Colonials to victories: At Fairfield, Austin Plotica took first in 18:13 to lead the Colonials over Eastern York and Fairfield. Also for New Oxford, Owen Kreeger was third, Wes Hagerman took fourth and Devin Forbes came in fifth. The Knights defeated Eastern York. John Whitcomb led the Knights with a second-place finish.
Schuler leads Wildcats to first-place finish: At York Catholic, Emily Schuler took first in 19:38 to lead the Wildcats over York Suburban and York Catholic. Teammate Allison Myers took fourth. The Trojans defeated York Catholic. Courtney Ohl took third for Suburban, while Zette Pflaum took fifth. York Catholic's Katie MacDougall took second.
Colonials capture team victories: At Fairfield, the Colonials defeated Eastern York and Fairfield. Sarah Pfisterer led the Colonials with a fifth-place finish. The Golden Knights took second by defeating Fairfield. Maddie McLain led the Knights by capturing first in 19:21. Teammate Olivia McLain took second. For the Knights, Lindsay Lytle took third, while Abby Hebenton took fourth.
