BOYS' HOOPS: Northeastern reaches triple digits in win

  • The Northeastern boys reached the 100-point mark on Monday night in a win over Steel-High.

In its first 15 games of the season, the Northeastern boys' basketball team had little difficulty in any of its games, getting off to a perfect 15-0 start.

On Monday night, win No. 16 may have been the Bobcats' most impressive thus far.

Northeastern's Antonio Rizzuto will play in college for the University at Albany.

Northeastern reached triple digits for the first time this season, routing traditional power Steel-High, 101-64, at home to remain unbeaten on the season.

Antonio Rizzuto continued his impressive junior campaign, leading the Bobcats with 30 points, including burying six 3-pointers. He was one of five Northeastern players to reach double figures for the contest. Fred Mulbah added 24 points, with Brandon Coleman tacking on 14, Nate Wilson scoring 11 and Austin Greene chipping in with 10.

Meanwhile, the only Rollers player to reach double digits was Tim Kater, who scored a game-high 32 points, accounting for exactly half of the visiting team's scoring.

The Bobcats will look to continue their unbeaten start when they travel to Dallastown on Wednesday to face their York-Adams Division I rival. Northeastern leads Division I at 8-0. Dallastown is in third place at 5-3.

Steel-High fell to 4-7.



Carlisle 75, Spring Grove 45: At Carlisle, in a meeting of two of the better big-school teams in District 3, the Thundering Herd dominated the Rockets, despite a 26-point effort from Rockets standout Eli Brooks. No other Spring Grove player cracked double digits. Carlisle star Deshawn Millington matched Brooks with 26 points of his own, but he also got double-digit support from Ethan Houston (17) and Gavyn Barnes (14). Spring Grove fell to 9-4. Carlisle improved to 10-4.

York Country Day 88, Christian School of York 28: At York Country Day, DeAireus Brown led the Greyhounds (11-3) with 22 points. Also for YCD, Jordan Ray and Greg Gladfelter each knocked in 18 points, while D.J. Hamilton scored 14. For the Crusaders, Sean Graybill scored 15.

Red Lion 49, Cocalico 41: At Cocalico, the Lions used a big fourth quarter to come back and defeat Cocalico and earn just their second win of the season. Red Lion outscored the home side by 10 points in the final frame to erase a two-point deficit. Tyler Burchett had a game-high 17 points for the Lions, while Jamel Foster added 16.

York Tech 83, Fairfield 45: At Spry, Terrence Romey led the Spartans to the Division III victory by scoring 16 points. Also for Tech, Jed Smith knocked in 15 points, including four from behind the arc, Jaykwan Batty scored 13 and Josiah Smallwood and Andreid Reever each scored 10. For the Green Knights, Chase Stadler scored 16 points.

Dover 57, Littlestown 43: At Dover, Elijah Sutton led all scorers with 19 points as the Eagles held on for the home victory. Keith Davis and Victor Dorm each scored 11 points for Dover. Logan Collins scored 17 points and Avery Eyler added 14 for Littlestown.

Central York 74, West York 39: At West York, the visitors cruised to victory. Central improved to 9-6. West York fell to 5-9. No other details were reported.
