Rosters set for York-Adams all-star basketball games
- York High will have the most players from one team in the boys' game with three.
- Three schools will have a game-high three players taking part in the girls' game.
- 12 of the top-15 scoring boys from this past season will take part in the All-Star game.
- Three of the top-five scoring girls' from 2015-16 will play in the All-Star game.
Sunday, 24 of the top senior boys and 22 of the top senior girls from the York-Adams League will lace up their shoes one last time for the Y-A Senior All-Star Games at Red Lion High School.
The girls' game is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. and will be followed by the boys' game at 6 p.m.
On the boys side, York High leads all teams with three selections, with guards Trey Shifflett and Montrel Morgan making the team, along with forward Kris Johnson. Several other teams had two players selected, while 17 of the 23 teams will be represented in the game.
The game should live up to its all-star billing, with 12 of the league's top-15 scorers taking part, including the league's second- through fifth-leading scorers.
Team 1 will be made up of Jared Wagner (Central York), Nathan Markey (Central), Aaron Ward (Dallastown), Wyatt Tyson (Red Lion), Brock Geiman (South Western), Darin Gordon (Spring Grove), Johnson (York High), Morgan (York High), Shifflett (York High), Devon Duvall (New Oxford), Bryce Mundorff (Delone Catholic) and Ty Brown (York Tech) and will be coached by Colonials head coach Sean Bair.
Team 2 will consist of Najah Fink (Dover), Broguen Nicholas (Eastern York), Marquise Camel (Gettysburg), Max Lampe (Gettysburg), Kyle Wooldridge (Kennard-Dale), Kobi Nwandu (Northeastern), Donovian Maxfield (NE), Darian McCauley (West York), Josh Bailey (West York), Kyle Krout (Hanover), Will McQueen (Hanover) and Brady Topper (Littlestown) and will be coached by Golden Knights head coach Jon Reichard and the Thunderbolts' Scott Motter.
Girls game: On the girls' side, not nearly as many teams were represented. Only 13 of 23 teams will be represented in the girls' all-star game, but a few teams will have at least three participants.
League-champion Red Lion, Delone Catholic and West York will each have three players in the game, while Central York, Kennard-Dale and York Suburban will each have two participants.
Only seven of the league's 22 scorers who finished averaging double figures will play in the game, led by the Bearcats' Chyna Steele, who finished second in the league averaging 18.4 points per game. Northeastern's Jordyn Kloster (17.3 ppg) and Red Lion's Courtney Dimoff (14.7 ppg) each finished third and fifth, respectively, in scoring and will also take part in the game.
Team 1 will be made up of Lydia Shellenberger (Central), Mady Williams (Central), Dimoff (Red Lion), Kami Harvey (Red Lion), Taylor Funke (Red Lion), Jacey Shipley (South Western), Steele (York High), Allie Shipley (Delone), Katie Laughman (Delone) and Lilly Singleton (Delone) and will be coached by Lions head coach Don Dimoff and New Oxford's James Kunkle.
Team 2's roster is Cierra Brown (Gettysburg), Emily Freese (Kennard-Dale), Sara Pilkey (Kennard-Dale), Kloster (Northeastern), Ashley Stone (Susquehannock), Molly Day (York Suburban), Olivia Gettle (York Suburban), Kate Tallman (West York), Olivia Sollberger (West York), Morgan Bamberger (West York), Emily Laslo (York Catholic) and Mackenzie Farley (Bermudian Springs) and will be coached by the Rams' Josh Clark and the Bobcats' Dennis Kloster.
Tickets for the event are $5 for adults and $3 for students and will be sold at the door.
The games are sponsored by The York White Rose Lions Club and all proceeds will benefit the York White Rose Lions Scholarship Fund.
