Central York prevented Red Lion from completing a perfect York-Adams Division I girls' basketball season on Tuesday night with a 43-36 triumph over the visiting Lions.
Both teams are now 20-2 overall. Red Lion, which had previously clinched the division title, finished 11-1 in D-I action. Central finished 10-2.
Nikson Valencik scored 11 points to lead the Panthers. Courtney Dimoff had 14 points for Red Lion.
Central led 28-17 at halftime, but withstood an 11-2 Red Lion surge in the third quarter that brought the Lions to within 30-28 heading into the final eight minutes. Central used a 13-8 margin in the final quarter to secure the win.
Both teams will now head to the York-Adams League playoffs, which start this weekend. Red Lion will be the No. 1 seed from D-I, while Central will be the No. 2 seed.
West York 48, Northeastern 38: At West York, Paige Weekly poured in a game-high 15 points as the girls’ basketball team won its first game in the Bulldogs’ new gymnasium. Also in double digits for the Bulldogs was Morgan Bamberger with 11 points. Leading the way for Northeastern were Jordyn Kloster with 13 points and Brenna Schrotter with 12.
Susquehannock 54, Bermudian Springs 31: At Glen Rock, Ashley Stone scored a team-high 12 points to lead the Warriors. Taylor Tannura added 11 points and Tyler Williams scored 10 more for Ssuquehannock, which improved to 20-2 overall. A game-high 16 point effort by Mackenzie Farley led the way for Bermudian.
Red Lion Christian 65, Heritage Christian 40: At Red Lion Christian, Destiny Hollingshead and Tabitha Garner led the Swordsmen by each scoring 18 points. Also for RLC, Liz Baker scored 15 points, while Allie Damiano knocked in 10 points. RLC improved to 12-2 overall. On Monday, RLC routed CHASE, 54-22. Hollingshead had 17 points and Baker added 12.
Christian School of York 41, West Shore Christian 32: At West Shore Christian, Mekenzie Smith led all scorers with 14 points as CSY picked up the road victory. Alex Landis added 10 points to the winning effort.
