York Country Day's Ray hits milestone
York Country Day junior Jordan Ray reached the 1,000-point milestone in the Greyhounds’ 75-32 victory vs. visiting Conestoga Christian on Thursday.
“It’s an amazing feeling,” Ray said. “Going into my freshman year, my goal was to get 1,200 points and I never thought I would score the ball this well because I didn’t have that much confidence. And then last year, we only played 18 games, since we weren’t that good we never had a full schedule, and then last year I had 423 points in 18 games and was like, ‘Man, I really could do this.’ I’m just really blessed.”
In total, he had 24 points in the team’s victory, pushing the team’s record to a perfect 14-0 on the season.
Sitting at 1,015 points in his career and plenty more basketball to go this season and next, Ray has altered his goals for YCD.
“My goal is to get the school record, which I believe is 1,472 points,” Ray added. “Once I get that, I feel like that would be amazing. If I can get there, it would be a real blessing. From a scoring aspect, that’s the next goal. If I get to 1,500, that would be even better.”
