Both Central York basketball teams improved to 4-0 on Wednesday night with York-Adams Division I victories over New Oxford.
Sarah Sepic made five 3-pointers in a 15-point effort to lead visiting Central to a 44-43 triumph in girls' action.
Nikson Valencik added 11 points for the Panthers, who jumped out to 16-4 lead after one quarter. New Oxford outscored Central in the second half, 23-11, but couldn't complete the comeback. Kaelyn Long led the Colonials with 17 points, while Haley Luckabaugh added 13.
In boys' action, Central earned an 86-54 win. Central held a 36-24 advantage at halftime and then exploded in the third quarter, outscoring the Colonials by 11 to build a 23-point cushion.
Jared Wagner scored a team-high 17 points for the Panthers, while Garrett Markey added 16. Onterio Edmonds was the only other Central player to hit double figures, dropping in 13. New Oxford was led by Devon Duvall, who scored a game-high 19 points. Ben Lehman added 12.
Columbia 45, Kennard-Dale 42: At Columbia, the Rams were held scoreless in the second quarter, which allowed the Crimson Tide to erase a five-point deficit and take a one-point lead into the half. Columbia extended its lead by one in each of the next two quarters to earn the three-point victory. Kennard-Dale got a 12-point game from Morgan Anderson and 10 points from Emily Freese.
York Catholic 64, Fairfield 23: At Fairfield, Kate Bauhof led the Irish to the York-Adams Division III victory by scoring a game-high 23 points. York Catholic's defense held the Green Knights to just six second-half points.
York Country Day 45, Big Spring 43: At YCD, DeAireus Brown dropped in a game-high 25 points to carry the Greyhounds to the two-point win over the Bulldogs. YCD scored just four points in the second quarter and trailed by four at the half, but outscored Big Spring by seven to open up a three-point lead heading into the final frame. The Greyhounds are 3-0.
