A day after the York-Adams League crowned its outright baseball champions in Division I and Division II, Division III and Division IV followed suit Tuesday.
Eastern York (13-6 overall, 11-3 in the division) claimed the Division III title with its 13-3 victory at York Suburban. The teams were locked in a close affair, with the Trojans leading 2-1, before Eastern posted four runs in the fifth and seven more in the sixth to pull away.
Brandon Knarr did his part for the Golden Knights both at the plate and on the mound. Knarr posted four hits, including a double, and drove in four runs to help his cause. He struck out five batters during his five innings pitched as well to get the win.
Colby Shimmel, a day after tossing a two-hitter to lead the Knights past Littletown in another key division match-up, drove in three runs for Eastern.
Nick Miller doubled and Collin Slenker drove in a run for Suburban, which committed 12 errors.
Irish take Division IV: Dillon Hippensteel’s big day from the leadoff spot helped York Catholic defeat Delone Catholic 14-4 in six innings and capture the York-Adams Division IV baseball championship.
Hippensteel went 3 for 3 with a double, four RBIs and two runs scored. Cleanup hitter Matt Knauer was 3 for 4 with a double, a triple, three RBIs and a pair of runs scored.
York Catholic (11-7, 11-4 ) helped winning pitcher Brenden Kennedy cruise by racing out to an early 6-0 lead after the first inning. Kennedy went five innings, giving up three runs on six hits while striking out four and walking two.
Austin Kuntz was 2 for 3 with a run scored for Delone.
Susquehannock 8, Kennard-Dale 2: At Glen Rock, Stephen Fuller drove in two runs and Connor Hood went 2 for 3 with an RBI and two runs scored for Susquehannock. Ethan Phillips took the loss for K-DM giving up five runs on two hits while striking out two and walking one.
South Western 6, Red Lion 1: At South Western, Jey Yeater worked five innings, striking out three and walking three to collect the win for South Western. Red Lion’s Tyler Burchett worked four innings, striking out a pair and walking five while taking the loss.
