The Northeastern baseball team clinched at least a share of the York-Adams League Division II title on Monday with its 10-0 win at Susquehannock.
Going into the game, the Warriors were the Bobcats’ closest threat in the D-II race, but Northeastern (11-4 overall, 8-3 D-II) had little trouble.
The Bobcats quickly jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the first inning over Susquehannock (7-8 overall, 5-6 D-II) and then tacked on single runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings. Northeastern broke it open with a two-run sixth and a three-run seventh.
Devin Blymire drove in three runs for the Bobcats, going 2 for 4 with two doubles and three runs scored, while Adam Kipp also went 2 for 4 with two doubles and three RBIs. Northeastern out-hit the Warriors 11-2, with starter Kody Reeser going the distance for the Bobcats, allowing just two hits and two walks while striking out nine. Dustin Babaie and Connor Hood recorded the only two hits for Susquehannock, both singles.
Each team has just three league games remaining, meaning one more win by Northeastern will clinch the D-II title outright for the Bobcats.
Eastern York 8, Bermudian Springs 2: At Wrightsville, the Golden Knights put up crooked numbers in the first, third and fourth innings to take down the Eagles. Six different Eastern players drove in runs in the game, led by two-hit efforts from Colby Shimmel and Brandon Knarr. Bermudian’s lone RBI came from Tanner Byers. Eastern (11-6 overall) leads York-Adams Division III at 9-3.
York Catholic 3, York Tech 1: At York Catholic, a two-run bottom of the third inning proved to be the difference in York Catholic's win. Matt Knauer drove in two runs for York Catholic, while York Tech’s Nate Chronister drove in his team’s only run, going 2 for 3. York Catholic (8-6 overall) leads York-Adams Division IV at 8-3.
Central York 4, South Western 0: At Central, the Panthers got a strong start from Brady Abel to knock off the Mustangs. Abel allowed just four hits and three walks over five innings, while striking out three. He was supported on offense by Alex Myers and Nick Starr, who each went 2 for 3 with a single and double. South Western was held to just five singles.
West York 8, Red Land 0: At West York, the Bulldogs used a six-run second inning to put their stamp on the game. Justin Wetzel pitched a complete game for West York, while Tyler Seiffert recorded a double.
