South Western handed visiting Spring Grove its first York-Adams Division I baseball loss of the season on Thursday, 4-2.
The Mustangs plated all four runs in the bottom of the first to take an early lead and went on to capture the win.
Mustangs relief pitcher Austin Yancheski entered the game in the third to pick up the win, striking out three and walking one in two innings. Teammate Miles Francis doubled.
For the Rockets, Ty Maughlin hit a double, while relief pitcher Cam Sterner struck out two and walked two to finish the game.
Spring Grove fell to 5-3 overall and 5-1 in the division. South Western is 5-3 and 4-1.
Northeastern 9, Kennard-Dale 3: At Manchester, the Bobcats used a four-run first inning to set the tone. Brady Dolan earned the win for Northeastern, going six innings without allowing an earned run. Catcher Devin Blymire delivered an RBI double in the opening frame. K-D made it 5-3 in the top of the fifth with three runs, two of which came off a double by Benjamin Lowe. Northeastern (6-3 overall) leads York-Adams Division II at 4-2.
Central York 5, New Oxford 0: At Central, Panthers starter Alex Myers struck out 13 New Oxford hitters en roue to the three-hit shutout. Mike Davis and Nick Starr each had doubles for the Panthers, while Tanner Myers also had one for the Colonials.
York Catholic 6, Hanover 0: At York Catholic, Matt Knauer spun a gem for the Fighting Irish. Knauer allowed five hits in a complete-game effort, while his offense scored a run in each of the first three innings and then blew it open with a three-run bottom of the fifth.
West York 10, Susquehannock 6: At Glen Rock, Brandon Sheffer tossed 4 2/3 innings, giving up nine hits, striking out three and walking none while picking up the win. Sheffer also helped out his own cause by going 3 for 4 with three RBIs and a run scored. Susquehannock got a 2-for-4 effort with two RBIs from Sam Odegaard.
Dallastown 2, Red Lion 0: At Red Lion, the visitors collected the win to improve to 5-2 overall and 5-1 in York-Adams Division I. The Wildcats and Spring Grove are tied for first. Red Lion fell to 3-3 and 2-2. No other details were reported.
Littlestown 13, York Suburban 3 (5 innings): At Littlestown, the Thunderbolts scored nine runs in the first two innings. Brandon Pittinger drove in a game-high four runs for Littlestown, while pitcher Alex Dehaas allowed just one earned run to pick up the victory. Suburban got RBIs from Thomas Merkle and Nick Miller.
Delone Catholic 11, York Tech 0 (5 innings): At McSherrystown, Austin Kuntz drove in four runs for the Squires and Chase Kint added three RBIs.
