BASEBALL: Northeastern captures win vs. Central York


The Northeastern baseball team bounced back from a disappointing loss with a convincing 7-3 home win over Central York on Thursday.


After the Bobcats allowed a three-run top of the fourth inning, giving the Panthers a 3-2 lead, they scored the game’s final five runs to pull away for the victory. The go-ahead run that put Northeastern up for good came on a bases-loaded walk, scoring Jordan Zirkle. Brady Dolan picked up the win for the Bobcats, pitching four innings, allowing three runs, but just one earned, on four hits, a walk and three strikeouts. William Kopp closed out the game by pitching the final three innings.

Drew Wolfgang supplied a home run for Northeastern. Kody Reeser had a two-RBI double for the Bobcats.

Northeastern was coming off a 3-2 walk-off loss to Spring Grove on Tuesday.


York Suburban 12, York Tech 2: At Suburban, the Trojans had little trouble getting past the Spartans en route to the 10-run victory in just five innings. Suburban scored 10 of its 12 runs in the first four innings, including getting three RBIs from Brad Smith and two RBIs from Ryan Day and Jared Wolfenberger.

Dallastown 5, Susquehannock 1: At Glen Rock, Riley Hamberger struck out eight and walked three to pick up the win. Nick Parker, Brandon White and Tracy Carr each doubled for Dallastown.

Fairfield 10, Eastern York 5: At Wrightsville, a six-run top of the fourth sunk Easter. The game was tied 1-1 going into the fourth, but Fairfield erupted for nine runs over the next three innings to pull away. The Golden Knights made it a 7-5 game after four innings, but couldn’t complete the comeback.

New Oxford 8, West York 0: At West York, the slow start to the year for the Bulldogs continued as they dropped the lopsided result to the Colonials. The game was only 2-0 New Oxford going into the sixth inning when the visitors scored three times in its final two at-bats to break open the game. Andrew Wright drove in two runs for the Colonials and Kobe Brown earned his second complete-game victory of the year. Tyler Sweeney had two of West York’s five hits.

South Western 9, Dover 8: At Dover, the Eagles got the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh, but Mustangs’ closer Josh Fostick stranded them to earn the save and close out the victory. Miles Francis drove in two runs for South Western and also scored the eventual game-winning run in the top of the seventh. Dover’s Nic Morrett went 2 for 4 with two RBIs and a double.
