YORK-ADAMS BASEBALL: York Catholic earns wild win over Bermudian Springs


York Catholic earned a wild 10-9, eight-inning victory over visiting Bermudian Springs on Wednesday.

The Irish rallied for two runs in the bottom of the seventh to push the game into extra innings at 6-6.

Bermudian, however, scored three times in the top of the eighth to regain the lead, 9-6. York Catholic, however, responded with four runs in the bottom of the eight to grab the win.

Brenden Kennedy tossed all eight innings to earn the win on the mound, giving up nine hits while striking out five and walking two. He was also 1-for-4 at the plate with two RBIs and three runs scored to help his own cause. Bryce Floyd was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and Ryan Deporter also drove in two runs for the Irish.

York Catholic improved to 7-3 overall and 7-2 in York-Adams Division IV.


West York 11, Central 9: At Central, Nicholas Traettino led the Bulldogs, going 3-for-4, including three RBIs. Traettino also came on in relief of starting pitcher Logan Stover to pick up the win on the mound, striking out four, walking none and allowing one earned run in three innings. Also for West York, Andrew Copeland went 2-for-3, including a triple. For the Panthers, Elzir Stroman went 4-for-4, including a double, while teammate Ben Reed went 2-for-4 with a double. West York improved to 10-0 in York-Adams Division II and 11-0 overall.

Red Lion 10, Kennard-Dale 2: At Red Lion, the Lions plated six runs in the bottom of the fourth to take a commanding lead. Brett Landis led the Lions by going 2-for-3, including a double. Also for the Lions, Hank Shultz went 2-for-3, while Alex Zelger went 2-for-4 with a double.

Dover 3, New Oxford 1: At New Oxford, the Eagles broke a 1-1 tie in the top of the third when they plated two runs. Joe Morrett led the Eagles by going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Also for Dover, Nate Sennett and Jaret Hilbert combined on the mound to strike out three, walk two and allow no extra base hits. For the Colonials, Keegan Romanoff went 4-for-4.

Spring Grove 6, Susquehannock 3: At Spring Grove, Cameron Starner led the way for the Rockets with a 1-for-2 day at the plate with a run batted in and a run scored. Dakota Dennis hit a solo home run for the Warriors. First-place Spring Grove improved to 9-4 overall and 8-2 in York-Adams Division I.

Delone Catholic 8, York Suburban 0: At McSherrystown, Austin Roth was 3-for-4 with three RBIs and Austin Kuntz was 3-for-4 with three runs scored for the Squires. Thomas Merkle and Brad Smith had two hits each for Suburban.

Eastern York 4, York Tech 3: The Golden Knights trailed their hosts 3-0 before scoring four runs in the top of the seventh inning to steal the victory. Colby Shimmel was 2-for-3 with a double for Eastern. He also came in to pitch a scoreless seventh, striking out the side to earn the win. Luke Greisler was 2-for-3 with a double for the Spartans. First-place Eastern improved to 8-4 overall and 8-1 in York-Adams Division III.
