PREP ROUNDUP: Bermudian Springs nips Eastern York in battle field hockey division leaders
Two York-Adams League division leaders squared off on Wednesday in field hockey action.
Not surprisingly, the outcome was decided by a single goal.
In the end, Division IV-leading Bermudian Springs emerged with a 1-0 triumph over Division III-leading Eastern York at Wrightsville.
Melanie Beall's unassisted first-quarter goal was the only scoring in the match.
The Eagles had a 12-8 edge in penalty corners and an 11-8 edge in shots on goal. Kelsey Felix had 10 saves in a losing cause.
Bermudian improved to 10-0 on the season, while Eastern dropped to 6-3. All three of Eastern's losses have come by a single goal. The Golden Knights have only allowed six goals all season.
Of Bermudian's 10 wins this season, nine have come by shutout. The only goals the Eagles allowed came in a 3-2 victory over West York on Oct. 17.
Before Wednesday's contest, Bermudian had scored at least three goals in every game. The Eagles have outscored their opposition, 45-2.
In the latest District 3 Class 1-A power ratings, Bermudian sits at No. 2, behind only Oley Valley (12-0). Eastern York is No. 6 in those same ratings. The top eight teams in the final 1-A power ratings will make the district field.
