PREP ROUNDUP, THURSDAY, OCT. 3: Central York field hockey team now tied for first in D-I
The Central York field hockey team is now tied for first place in York-Adams Division I.
The Panthers rolled past visiting Northeastern on Thursday, 8-1, to improve to 8-7 overall and 8-2 in D-I. Red Lion is also 8-2.

York Catholic 3, Littlestown 0: At Littlestown, the Lady Irish rolled, 25-18, 25-16, 25-15. York Catholic was powered by Madeline Walker (seven digs, 25 assists), Shannon Toomey (seven kills), Julia Yanick (21 digs), Payton Murphy (eight digs), Gabby Malone (six kills, 11 digs) and Hope Leavy-Gaskins (eight kills, seven digs). York Catholic improved to 11-1 overall and 8-1 in York-Adams Division III.
South Western 3, Red Lion 0: At Red Lion, the Mustangs won the York-Adams Division I road match, 25-16, 25-13, 25-17. Ali St. Rose led the Mustangs with 14 kills and 15 digs. Also for South Western, Emma Filipovits had 12 kills and 13 digs, Kya Rebert had eight kills and 12 digs and Jacy Crouse had 38 assists and four digs. South Western improved to 8-1 in the division and 10-1 overall.
York Suburban 3, Eastern 0: At Suburban, the home team rolled, 25-8, 25-17, 25-14, behind big efforts from Caitlin Springer (five digs, 31 assists), Eliana Rodgers (11 kills) and Lauren Guyer (13 digs). Suburban improved to 10-2 overall and 8-1 in York-Adams Division II.
West York 3, Susquehannock 0: At Glen Rock, the defending 3-A state champions from West York rolled to improve to 13-1 overall and 10-0 in York-Adams Division II. Susquehannock fell to 9-6 and 7-3.
New Oxford 3, York High 0: At New Oxford, the Colonials won the York-Adams League Division II match, 25-15, 25-12, 25-5. Morgan Adams led the Colonials with nine kills. Also for New Oxford, Torrin Kelley had 30 assists, Devyn Kelley had six kills and Lilly Anderson had five kills.
York Catholic 5,York High 0: At York High, Ben Bullen led the Irish to the York-Adams Division III road victory by scoring one goal and adding two assists. Pasen Maynard scored two goals, Jon Yinger added two assists and Tyler Anthony and Josiah Olsen scored one goal apiece. John Weisser added one assist. York Catholic (12-2-0 overall) improved to 10-1-0 in the division.
Central York 4, Spring Grove 3: At Spring Grove, the Panthers managed a one-goal road triumph to improve to 9-4-2 overall and 7-2-2 in York-Adams Division I.
Seeded players fare well: Seven of the eight seeded players in both Class 3-A and 2-A advanced to the quarterfinals of the York-Adams League girls' tennis singles tournaments on Thursday. None of the top five seeds in either class was upset.
In 3-A, No. 1 Meghan Salaga of Dallastown, No. 2 Jillian Laughman of Northeastern, No. 3 Rachel Haupt of Central York, No. 4 Emma Hyunson of South Western, No. 5 Sophie Lanius of Red Lion, No. 7 Grace Heird of Dallastown and No. 8 Audrey Stewart of Central York moved on. The only upset came when South Western's Sarah McComas beat No. 6 Kasi Conjack of New Oxford, 6-4, 6-4.
In 2-A, No. 1 Brianna Miller of Kennnard-Dale, No. 2 Alisa Steele of West York, No. 3 Evelyn Whiteside of Eastern York, No. 4 Megan Hawkins of Kennard-Dale, No. 5 Olivia Roth of Delone Catholic, No. 6 Brianna Serruto of Kennard-Dale and No. 8 Anne Miles of Bermudian Springs advanced. The only upset came when Kennard-Dale's Grace Maccarelli defeated No. 7 Made Rollins of Delone Catholic, 6-2, 6-0.
