PREP ROUNDUP, MONDAY, SEPT. 30: South Western field hockey team solidifies hold on first

The South Western field hockey team solidified its hold on first place in York-Adams Division II on Monday with a 3-2 overtime triumph at Susquehannock.

The Mustangs improved to 12-1-0 and 9-0-0 in D-II. The Warriors fell to 8-5-0 overall and 6-3-0.

Caitlyn Coates scored the winner in overtime. It was her second goal of the game. Albanie Hersh also scored for the Mustangs.

Lauryn Wojcik and Anabeth Wentzel had Susquehannock's goals.



Central York 1, Dallastown 0: At Central York, Grace Harrold's first-half goal proved to be the only score of the contest. Sydney Valdes made two saves to record the shutout. Bella Saylor had nine saves in a losing cause. Central York improved to 7-6-0 overall and 7-1-0 in York-Adams Division I. Dallastown fell to 7-7-0 and 5-4-0.

Bermudian Springs 3, Eastern York 0: At York Springs, in a showdown of York-Adams Division III powers, the Eagles emerged victorious. Bermudian improved to 13-1 overall and 10-0 in D-III. Eastern fell to 9-3 overall and 8-2 in the division. Both of Eastern's divisional losses have come to Bermudian. Kelsey Felix made 14 saves in a losing cause. Hailey Lamo, Grace Metger and Lindsay Kutz scored for the Eagles.


Gettysburg 3, Northeastern 2: At Manchester, the Warriors captured both doubles matches to secure the nondivisional victory. Grace Neller and Sophie Cann won the No. 1 doubles match, while Bridget Duffy and Chelsea Zimmann won the No. 2 match. Teammate Kim Heinzelman won a singles match. For the Bobcats, Jillian Laughman and Taylor Forry each won a singles match.

Littlestown 4, Dover 1: At Dover, the Thunderbolts received singles victories from Abbey Rosenblatt, Katerina Goltsche and Madison Johnson. For the Eagles, Claire Matz and Destiny Ford combined to win the No. 2 doubles match.


Susquehannock 4, Manheim Central 1: At Manheim Central, Nolan Holloway led the Warriors to the nonleague victory by connecting for two goals in the match. The Warriors (13-0-1 overall) held the Barons (4-9-0) to just three shots on goal for the game. 

Dallastown 4, Spring Grove 0: At Dallastown, the No. 1 team in the latest District 3 Class 4-A power ratings continued to roll. The Wildcats improved to 14-0-0 overall and 9-0-0 in York-Adams Division I. Dallastown has given up just four goals all season.

York Suburban 3, Northern York 0: At Suburban, the Trojans improved to 10-2-1 with the nonleague triumph in a battle of District 3 Class 3-A powers. Northern fell to 10-3-1.. 


Hempfield 3, Dallastown 0: At Dallastown, the Wildcats lost the nonleague match 25-10, 25-20, 25-20. Syd Ohl led the Wildcats with seven kills and 10 digs. Also for the Wildcats, Ellie Stump had six kills and seven digs, Abby Herbert had 16 digs and Izzy Ream had 15 assists and four digs. Dallastown fell to 9-4. Hempfield is 9-0.

Eastern York 3, Warwick 1: At Wrightsville, the Golden Knights won the nonleague match, 25-15, 30-28, 13-25, 25-21. Sarah Moore led the Golden Knights (6-5 overall) with 10 kills and 14 digs. Also for Eastern, Abby Smith had seven kills, five aces, four blocks and four digs; A.J. Waltemyer had 10 kills, five digs and three aces; and Ally Willich had 22 assists, six digs and three aces.
