The Central York Panthers sewed up the York-Adams Division I field hockey championship on Thursday afternoon with an 11-0 triumph over visiting Dover.
The Panthers finished at 12-1 in league action, and improved to 13-5 overall.
Kyra Heap led the Panthers by scoring three goals and adding three assists. Abby Lamison and Kaitlyn Merritt each scored three goals and added one assist, while Breann Craley scored one goal and added two assists.
The Panthers held the Eagles to zero shots on goal.
For the Eagles, Veronica Talton made 24 saves in goal.
Red Lion 3, Susquehannock 0: At Red Lion, the Lions received one goal apiece from Jillian Sleeth, Ashlyn Althoff, and Kennedy Bratton. Teammate Kaiya Edwards added one assist. The JV match ended in a 1-1 draw.
York Suburban 1, Spring Grove 1 (Tie): At Spring Grove, the Trojans received their goal off the stick of Sharon Tum, with an assist from Carly Bowen, while the Rockets' Mackenzie Topper scored with an assist from Kaylee Grubb. Spring Grove won the JV match, 1-0.
Central York 3, South Western 2: At Central York, the York-Adams Division I leaders survived, 22-25, 25-19, 27-25, 22-25, 16-14. Alexa Shorts led the Panthers with 11 kills, four blocks and three aces. Also for Central, Sydnie Johnson had 12 kills and six blocks, Jenna Arganbright had 14 kills and Linnea Prudell had 39 assists. For the Mustangs, Megan Wolf had 19 kills and 22 digs, while Ali St. Rose had 15 kills and 25 digs.
York Suburban 3, Susquehannock 0: At Glen Rock, the Trojans won, 25-15, 25-22, 25-17. Eliana Rodgers led the Trojans with 10 kills, four aces and three digs. Also for Suburban, Maddie Perring had six kills and three blocks, Lauren Guyer had 24 assists and eight digs and Caitlin Springer had 13 digs and three assists. For the Warriors, Emma Sieling had 10 kills and nine digs, while Emily Sweitzer had 16 assists, nine digs and four kills and Savannah Lesley had eight kills and seven digs. Suburban won the JV match 2-0.
Dover 3, Spring Grove 0: At Dover, the Eagles rolled, 29-27, 25-17, 25-15. For Dover, the stat leaders were Chayce Hoffman (26 kills, 27 digs), Abby Diehl (four kills, seven digs, 47 assists), Emma Nace (12 digs) and Emma Davis (11 kills, nine digs). Hailey Marcionette (six digs, 14 assists), Kaylyn Zeigler (five kills, 15 digs) and Falyn McGlynn (seven kills, eight digs) led the Rockets. Spring Grove won the JV match, 2-0.
York Catholic 3, Bermudian Springs 0: At York Springs, the York-Adams Division III co-leaders won, 25-2, 25-12, 25-20. Hope Leavy-Gaskins led the Irish with 11 kills. Also for the Irish, Madeline Walker had eight digs and 10 assists, McKenna Walker had 20 digs and three assists and Megan Daugherty had 22 assists. York Catholic won the JV match, 2-1.
Dallastown 3, Northeastern 1: At Manchester, the Wildcats rallied to win, 23-25, 25-22, 17-25, 12-25. The Wildcats were led by Izzy Ream (seven digs, 42 assists, five aces), Lydia Stump (nine kills, 15 digs), Tatiana Matuszewsk (16 kills), Lexie Kalligonis (23 digs) and Kanann Gemmill (15 digs). Dallastown won the JV match, 2-1.
York Catholic wins Division III titles: At Manchester, the York Catholic boys' and girls' cross country teams each earned York-Adams Division III championships on Thursday. Both Irish teams finished 6-0 in the division by virtue of wins over Delone Catholic and Biglerville on Thursday. The York Catholic girls finished 4-0 on the day, followed by South Western (3-1), Delone (2-2), Northeastern (1-3) and Biglerville (0-4). The Irish earned a 27-28 triumph over Delone to take the girls' championship. In boys' action, Northeastern was 4-0, followed by South Western (3-1), York Catholic (2-2), Delone (1-3) and Biglerville (0-4). The individual girls' winner was Sarah Forry of South Western, while Northeastern's James Herman won the boys' race.
