Prep roundup, Monday, Oct. 8: No major surprises on first day of York-Adams doubles event


There were no major surprises on the first day of the York-Adams League Girls' Tennis Doubles Tournament on Monday.

The top-four-seeded teams advanced to the semifinals in both Class 3-A and Class 2-A.

In Tuesday's 3-A semifinals, the top-seeded team of Kamdyn Balko and Kasi Conjack of New Oxford will battle the fourth-seeded pair of Michaela Sentz and Karen Yang of South Western, while the second-seeded team of Meghan Salaga and Morgan Kistler of Dallastown will meet the third-seeded team of Alex Clancy and Liv Pindzola of York Suburban.

Delone Catholic is sure to have a 2-A finalist, because two Delone teams will face off in one semifinal Tuesday when the top-seeded duo of Ellie Neudecker and Becca Dolce face off against their teammates, the third-seeded team of Abby Kilkelly and Mackenzie Smith. The other 2-A semifinal pits the second-seeded team of Brianna Miller and Megan Hawkins of Kennard-Dale vs. the fourth-seeded pair of Audrey Kinney and Alisa Steele of West York.


Spring Grove 4, West York 0: At Spring Grove, the Rockets led 2-0 at the half and went on to capture the victory. Alexis Colon recorded a shutout in goal with 12 saves to lead the Rockets. For the Bulldogs, Carlie Marquette made eight saves in goal.

Delone Catholic 2, York Catholic 0: At York, Riley Vingsen and Camryn Felix scored the Delone goals, Katt Chroniger assisted on both scores. Angela DeBolt had four saves in a losing cause. 

York Suburban 4, New Oxford 0: At New Oxford, the Trojans improved to 10-3-2 overall with the nonleague shutout over the Colonials.


York Catholic 3, Bishop McDevitt 0: At York, the Irish rolled to a 25-10, 25-11, 25-11 nonleague triumph. Madeline Walker (five kills, six assists) and Megan Daugherty (18 assists) led YC, which improved to 12-1 overall. The Irish won the JV match, 2-0.

Spring Grove 3, Mechanicsburg 0: At Spring Grove, the Rockets won the nonleague match, 25-20, 25-22, 25-6. Kaylyn Zeigler led the Rockets with nine kills, 14 digs and three blocks. Also for Spring Grove, Hailey Marcionette had 11 assists, 10 digs, four kills and three aces and Maddie Ruhland had eight assists, four aces and three digs. Spring Grove won the JV match, 2-0.

Eastern York 3, Red Land 0: At Red Land, the Golden Knights picked up the nonleague road victory to improve to 11-3 overall.


Central York 12, Spring Grove 1: At Central, the Panthers rolled behind Kyra Heap (two goals, two assists), Caroline Blalock (three goals), Victoria Whitehead (two goals, assist), Breann Craley (goal, two assists), Abby Lamison (goal, assist), Kaitlyn Merritt (goal, assist), Grace Harrold (goal) and Mikayla Sommer (goal). Central improved to 11-5 overall and 10-1 in York-Adams Division I. Lauren Guise scored for Spring Grove. Central won the JV match, 3-0.

Eastern York 3, Biglerville 0: At Wrightsville, Addison Malone recorded a hat trick to lead the Golden Knights. Lily Campbell and Morgan Arnold added two assists apiece. Eastern won the JV match, 4-3. 

Northeastern 5, York Tech 0: At Manchester, the Bobcats got goals from Kelsie Sharpe, Jaiden Bainbridge, Weslie Sebroski, Sloan Shover and Abby Tabachini.


South Western 3, Dover 1: At Dover, Casey Slater had a goal and two assists to lead the Mustangs. James Strausbaugh and Alex Barney also had Mustang goals. James Jaeger scored for Dover. Dakota Dehoff made nine saves for Dover. South Western won the JV match, 4-1.

Kennard-Dale 3, New Oxford 3: At Fawn Grove, Logan Coomes had two goals and Kevin Avalos added one for the Rams in the tie vs. the Colonials.
