PREP ROUNDUP: Dover earns its first York-Adams League Division II golf triumph of season

  • Dover earned its first York-Adams Division II golf triumph of the season on Tuesday.
  • In the nine-hole match, Dover finished with a 166 total, three shots better than Susquehannock.
  • Littlestown's Devin Peart was the individual medalist at 2-under-par 35.

Dover earned its first York-Adams Division II golf tournament victory of the season on Tuesday at Briarwood East.

The event was shortened to nine holes because of weather conditions.

The Eagles finished with a 166 total, which was three shots better than Susquehannock. York Suburban was third at 175, followed by West York (182), Kennard-Dale (184), Eastern York (191) and Gettysburg (216).

Littlestown's Devin Peart was the individual medalist at 2-under-par 35. Littlestown does not have enough players to compete as a team, but Peart still competes individually. Susquehannock's Spencer Beran was second at 36, while Dover's Brayton West was third at 37. No one else was in the 30s.

Susquehannock still leads the team race at 22-2 (66 points), followed by Suburban (20-4, 60 points), Dover (15-9, 45 points), Kennard-Dale (13-11, 39 points), West York (10-14, 30 points), Gettysburg (2-22, six points) and Eastern York (2-22, six points).


Kennard-Dale 3, West York 2: At Fawn Grove, Lydia Gable led the Rams to the home victory by scoring one goal and adding one assist. Also for K-D, Emily Cole and Madison Manfredi each scored one goal, while Cloe Thoricth had one assist. For the Bulldogs, Alexis Miller and Brionna Smith each scored one goal.

Central York 2, Red Lion 0: At Central York, the Panthers received one goal apiece from Katelyn Mair and Ava Myers, while Chloe Carns and Lauren Carns each added one assist. The Panthers defense held the Lions two shots on goal. Red Lion won the JV match, 2-0.

Delone Catholic 4, York Catholic 0: At McSherrystown, Riley Vingsen led the Squirettes to the home victory with two goals and two assists. All four goals came in the first half. 

York Suburban 3, Gettysburg 2 (OT): At Gettysburg, the Trojans rallied from a 2-0 halftime hole to earn the overtime win. Katie Heiner delivered the game-winner.  Nyah Hood had Suburban's other two goals. Emma Ploff had seven saves for Suburban. The Trojans won the JV match, 4-3.

Dallastown 5, New Oxford 0: At Dallastown, the Wildcats cruised on the York-Adams Division I victory to improve 4-1 on the season. The Wildcats led 3-0 at the half and outshot the visitors 20-2.  

Dover 6, Eastern York 1: At Dover, Kylie Firestone led the Eagles to the easy home victory by scoring four goals and adding one assist. 

Manheim Central 4, Northeastern 1: At Manchester, Katie Snelbaker had Northeastern's only score. Katie Shearer made four saves in goal.

Spring Grove 3, South Western 0: At Spring Grove, the Rockets shut out the Mustangs in a York-Adams Division I battle. Spring Grove evened its record at 2-2.


South Western 3, Spring Grove 0: At Hanover, Casey Slater scored twice to lead the Mustangs. Andrew Baldwin had the other goal. Spring Grove goalie Bryce Ball had six saves in a losing effort. The JV game ended in a 1-1 tie.

York Catholic 8, Delone Catholic 0: At York Catholic, Bryan Bullen led the Irish to the easy victory by scoring two goals and adding one assist. Colin Smith scored two goals, Ben Bullen had three assists and Jon Yinger scored one goal and added one assist.  

Eastern York 4, Dover 0: At Wrightsville, Zach Gross, Avery Rhine, Andrew Hetter and Hailu Barrow scored Eastern's goals. Gavin Donnelly had two assists. Eastern goalie Brady Bixler and Dover goalie Dakota Dehoff each had five saves.

West York 7, Kennard-Dale 0: At West York, Jason Bruder (two goals, one assist), Jake Altimore (goal, assist), Aidan Clark (goal, assist), Colby Goodling (goal, assist), Michael Washington (goal, assist) and Justin Stough (goal) led the Bulldogs. K-D's John Moscynski had 12 saves in a losing cause.

Northeastern 0, Manheim Central 0: The Bobcats and Barons battled to a scoreless draw. Troy Billingslea had five saves for Northeastern.

Dallastown 9, New Oxford 1: At New Oxford, the Wildcats continued their strong season with an easy victory in Adams County. Dallastown is now 4-0 on the season.

Red Lion 2, Central York 0: At Red Lion, the Lions shut out the five-time defending York-Adams League Division I champion. Red Lion is now 3-1 overall. Central fell to 2-3.

Gettysburg 1, York Suburban 0: At Suburban, the Trojans suffered their first loss of the season after opening with four straight victories.


New Oxford 5, Susquehannock 0: At New Oxford, the Colonials received straight-set singles victories from Kamdyn Balko, Kasi Conjack and Maddie Markle to secure the home victory.

Northeastern 5, Dover 0: At Manchester, the Bobcats cruised behind straight-set singles wins from Courtnee Hoff, Jillian Laughman and Brynn MacDonald. Madison Laughman/Jiselle Castano and Aubrey Shaffer/Taylor Forry each earned 6-0, 6-0 wins in doubles.

Delone Catholic 4, West York 0: At McSherrystown, the Bulldogs got blanked by the Squirettes. The fifth match was suspended.



Dover 3, Dalllastown 0: At Dallastown, the Eagles won, 25-23, 25-20, 25-23. Chayce Hoffman led the Eagles with 18 kills and 14 digs. Also for Dover, Abby Diehl had 30 assists and 12 digs, Emma Davis had 12 kills and eight digs and Triana Krider had seven kills. For the Wildcats, Tatiana Matuszewski had eight kills and six blocks, while Izzy Ream had 29 assists and three aces, and Syd Ohl had nine kills and six digs. Dallastown won the JV match, 25-18, 25-21.

York Catholic 3, Littlestown 0: At Littlestown, the Irish won the match, 25-7, 25-12, 25-11. Hope Gaskins led the Irish with nine kills and three digs. Also for the Irish, Madeline Walker had 10 assists, six digs and six aces, Megan Daugherty had 12 assists, six digs and four aces and McKenna Walker had 15 digs, three assists and three aces. For the Thunderbolts, Jess Dunbar had 10 digs and six kills. Littlestown won the JV match 2-0.

South Western 3, Red Lion 0: At Red Lion, the Mustangs cruised, 25-21, 25-15, 25-11. South Western was led by Kate Crouse (14 assists), Ali St. Rose (12 kills, seven digs, four aces) and Megan Wolf (eight kills, 10 digs, four aces). Red Lion's leaders were Cassidy Crowe (five digs, 10 assists, seven blocks), Jenna Enfield (nine digs) and Julia Beiler (five kills).

York Suburban 3, Eastern York 0: At Suburban, the Trojans won, 25-20, 25-6, 25-20. Lauren Guyer had 20 assists, six digs and three aces to lead the Trojans. Also for Suburban, Eliana Rodgers had eight kills, four aces and 10 digs, Nat Saxton had six kills and four blocks and Caitlin Springer had 12 digs. For the Golden Knights, Katie Lehman had 15 assists, four kills and four aces, Sarah Moore had six kills and seven digs and Morgan Winter and Abby Smith each had three kills. 

West York 3, Susquehannock 1: At Glen Rock, the Bulldogs triumphed behind big nights from Julia Rill (16 kills, five digs), Gianna Krinock (nine kills, six digs) and Taylor Morley (32 assists, four digs, five kills). Susquehannock was led by Nikki Gianzanti (19 digs), Emily Sweitzer (17 assists, eight digs), Savannah Lesley (10 kills, 16 digs) and Emma Sieling (eight kills, nine digs).

Spring Grove 3, Northeastern 1: At Manchester, the Rockets rallied for a 19-25, 26-24, 25-20, 25-21 triumph. The Rockets were led by Maddie Ruhland (28 assists), Kaylyn Zeigler (nine kills, 10 digs, five aces) and Nevaeh Wolfe (11 digs). Northeastern's leaders were Lauren Kelly (11 kills, six digs) and Jade Shellenberger (28 assists). Spring Grove won the JV match, 2-0.

New Oxford 3, York 0: At New Oxford, the Colonials rolled, 25-20, 25-19, 25-11. New Oxford won the JV match, 25-3, 25-8.

Kennard-Dale 3, Gettysburg 2: At Gettysburg, the Rams stormed back for a 25-22, 16-25, 13-25, 25-21, 15-10 win. The Rams won the JV match, 2-1.

Hanover 3, York Tech 0: At Hanover, the Hawkettes rolled, 25-9, 25-13, 25-15.



Susquehannock shines: At Fairfield, Susquehannock ran to a 3-0 finish, with wins over Fairfield, York Tech and Northeastern. Sam Pugliese led the Warriors with a third-place individual finish. The Green Knights came in second, followed by Northeastern and Tech. John Whitcomb took fifth to lead the hosts. Northeastern's Cole Perry was first individually in 17 minutes, 52 seconds, while teammate James Herman took second. Sean Smith led the Spartans by taking fourth.



Northeastern goes 3-0: At Fairfield, Bella Treglia took first in 21:14 to lead the Bobcats to a 3-0 afternoon. Also for Northeastern, Marissa Pritchett took third, while Trinity Schraudner took fourth. Susquehannock finished second at 2-1, followed by Fairfield and York Tech. Connor Coggins led the Warriors with a second-place finish, while teammate Desiree Witmer took fifth.


Dallastown 1, Susquehannock 0: At Dallastown, the Wildcats scored with 32 seconds left in regulation to improve to 4-1 overall. Lilly Cantabene scored the goal with an assist from Camryn Eveler. Susquehannock won the JV match, 2-0.
