PREP ROUNDUP: Defending champ Dallastown wins York-Adams Division I girls' tennis opener
Defending champion Dallastown got its 2018 York-Adams Division I season off to a successful start on Monday with a 4-1 triumph at Northeastern.
For the Wildcats, Morgan Kistler won at No. 1 singles, 6-2, 6-0, while Meghan Salaga triumphed at No. 2 singles, 6-4, 6-1.
Dallastown also swept the doubles matches in straight sets behind Grace Heird and Jordan Striebig at No. 1 and Bria Beverly and Emily Sarra at No. 2.
Northeastern's point came from Brynn MacDonald at No. 3 singles, 6-1, 7-5.
New Oxford 4, Central York 1: At Central York, the Colonials received singles victories from Kamdyn Balko, Kasi Conjack and Maddie Markle to secure the York-Adams Division I victory. For the Panthers, Maria Houseman and Catherine Bennett won the No. 2 doubles match.
Susquehannock 5, Spring Grove 0: At Glen Rock, the Warriors received singles victories from Julianne Cassady, Emily Ditt, and Kate Cramer. In doubles, Mia Kobylski and Abby Martin won the No. 1 match, while teammates Julia Kelbaugh and Megan Cramer won the No. 2 match.
York Catholic 5, Littlestown 0: At Littlestown, the Irish received singles victories from Annie Stitch, Clare Brennan and Natalie Kerchner. In doubles, Becca Marinelli and Abby Brenneman won the No. 1 match, while Abby Wurzbach and Maggie Bowser won the No. 2 match.
Red Lion 5, Dover 0: At Dover, the Lions received singles victories from Sophie Lanius, Zamirah Morton and Kirsten Huster. In doubles, Cora Beyer and Chloe Vega won the No. 1 match, while teammates Allie Dettinger and Emma Hively captured the No. 2 match.
West York 3, Kennard-Dale 2: At West York, all three of the Bulldogs victories were three-set wins. Alisa Steele and Chloe Hoover each won a singles match, while Brenya Stallsmith and Megan Hartlaub combined to win a doubles match. For the Rams, Brianna Miller won the No. 1 singles match, while Shannon Fletcher and Tori Santoriello combined to win a doubles match.
South Western 4, York Suburban 1: At Hanover, the Mustangs received singles victories from Michaela Sentz and Emma Hynson. For the Trojans, Liv Pindzola won a singles match.
Bacha leads Panthers to first-place finish: At Out Door Country Club, Carson Bacha's 69 led the Central York Panthers to a 298 total and a first-place team finish in a York-Adams Division I match.
Bacha has now shot in the 60s in each of Central's D-I matches this season. The Panthers have finished first in each of those matches, totaling less than 300 shots each time.
Hunter Kell (73), Cole Sevick (77), Jun Lee (79) and Alex Gekas (80) each scored among the top-10 individuals for Central.
Spring Grove (314) came in second, with Karl Frisk leading the Rockets with a 70. Brandon Simmons (77) and Ty Gladhill (80) also broke into the individual top 10 for the Rockets.
New Oxford (337) came in third with Justin Gruver (79) leading the way. Dallastown (348) came in fourth. Owen Brown (76) led the Wildcats. Northeastern came in fifth, followed by South Western and Red Lion. Channing Bratton (79) led the Lions.
