York-Adams League sends 21 teams into District 3 diamond action, including 4 No. 1 seeds

After a week of rain that wiped out the York-Adams League baseball and softball playoffs, the forecast for next week looks significantly more promising.

That's just in time for District 3 baseball and softball playoffs.

The York-Adams League is sending a large contingent of teams onto the district diamonds — 10 in baseball and 11 in softball.

That includes four No. 1 seeds.

Baseball: The Dallastown baseball team (16-4) has garnered the No. 1 seed in Class 6-A. The Y-A Division I champion Wildcats are attempting to defend their district 6-A championship.

York Catholic (10-6) is No. 1 in the 2-A district baseball bracket.

The other Y-A baseball teams in the district field are: No. 5 Red Lion (13-6) in 6-A, No. 9 New Oxford (14-6) in 5-A, No. 12 Gettysburg (13-7) in 5-A, No. 3 Littlestown (14-4) in 4-A, No. 4 West York (12-8) in 4-A, No. 7 Kennard-Dale (13-6) in 4-A, No. 8 York Suburban (10-10) in 4-A and No. 3 Biglerville (15-5) in 3-A.

The district baseball playoffs start Monday.

Softball: In softball, Y-A D-I champion Central York (19-0) is No. 1 in 6-A and Fairfield (12-5) is No. 1 in 2-A. Fairfield is the defending 2-A champion.

Another team of note in softball is unbeaten Kennard-Dale (16-0), which is No. 2 in 4-A. The Y-A D-III champion Rams are the defending champions in 4-A. East Pennsboro (18-0) is No. 1 in 4-A.

The other Y-A softball teams in the district field are: No. 5 Dallastown (13-5) in 6-A, No. 7 Spring Grove (13-6) in 5-A, No. 14 New Oxford (12-7) in 5-A, No. 15 Northeastern (13-7) in 5-A, No. 7 Eastern York (12-5) in 4-A, No. 9 West York (10-10) in 4-A, No. 3 Delone Catholic (12-5) in 3-A and No. 3 York Catholic (9-8) in 2-A. 

The softball playoffs start Tuesday.

Pairings: Following are the opening games for each of the Y-A teams from York County:


Dallastown: The Wildcats have a first-round bye. At 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Dallastown will play host to the winner of the game between No. 8 J.P. McCaskey and No. 9 Chambersburg in the 6-A quarterfinals

Red Lion: The Lions also have a first-round bye. In the 6-A quarterfinals, Red Lion will travel to fourth-seeded Wilson at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

West York: The Bulldogs also have a first-round bye. In the 4-A quarterfinals, the Bulldogs will play host to fifth-seeded Bishop McDevitt on Thursday, with the time to be determined.

Kennard-Dale: In a first-round 4-A game, Kennard-Dale will play host to 10th-seeded Hamburg at 4:30 p.m. Monday.

York Suburban: In a first-round 4-A game at 4:30 p.m. Monday, Suburban plays host to No. 9 Boiling Springs.

York Catholic: In a 2-A semifinal Monday, York Catholic meets No. 4 Newport at Wenger Field in Fredericksburg, Lebanon County at 4 p.m. 


Central York: The Panthers get a first-round bye in 6-A. In a quarterfinal game at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Central will play host to the winner of the game between No. 8 Waynesboro and No. 9 Hempfield.

Dallastown: The Wildcats get a first-round bye in 6-A. At 7 p.m. Thursday in the quarterfinals, Dallastown travels to No. 4 Warwick.

Spring Grove: The Rockets play host to No. 10 Elizabethtown in a first-round 5-A game at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Northeastern: The Bobcats travel to No. 2 Daniel Boone for a first-round 5-A game at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Kennard-Dale, Eastern York: After a first-round bye, the Rams will play host to a 4:30 p.m. 4-A quarterfinal on Thursday and will face the winner of Tuesday's first-round game between No. 7 Eastern York and No. 10 Fleetwood. The Eastern-Fleetwood game is 4:30 p.m. Tuesday in Wrightsville.

West York: At 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, West York will travel to No. 8 Hamburg for a first-round 4-A game.

York Catholic: At 4:30 p.m. Thursday, York Catholic will travel to No. 2 Upper Dauphin in a 2-A semifinal.
