- The Hanover Athletic Hall of Fame has announced 10 new additions.
- Nine individuals will be recognized, including seven former athletes.
- The 1995-96 wrestling team will also be honored.
The Hanover Athletic Hall of Fame will soon have nine new individual members and one new team honoree.
The athletes to be honored are: Frank "Jack" Moore, 1948; Norm Palmer, 1957; Tom Good, 1958; Ted Kehr, 1960; Kevin O'Brien, 1968; Emily (Toot) Simancas, 1969; and Misti Wildasin, 1982. The 1995-96 wrestling team will also be honored, as will coach Dan Palmer and contributor Don Bair.
The 2017-2018 class of inductees will be enshrined at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 21, in the school gym before the varsity wrestling match vs. Delone Catholic. A reception will be held before the induction ceremony at 6 p.m. in the high school’s Integrative Learning Center.
Plaques honoring each inductee will be permanently displayed on the Hall of Fame Wall outside the high school gym.
The Hanover Athletic Booster Club, the Alumni Association of Hanover and Eichelberger High Schools and the Hanover Public School District partnered in 2015 to create the hall of fame to honor athletes, teams, coaches and contributors from both Hanover and Eichelberger high schools. A new class is inducted every two years.
After a nomination process that was open to the community, an 11-member selection committee of current coaches, Booster Club and Alumni Association representatives and community members selected the 10 honorees.
