PREP: Dallastown falls in District 3 Class 3-A tennis


Dallastown's dream of a District 3 Class 3-A boys' team tennis title came to an end on Monday.

The top-seeded Wildcats were upset by ninth-seeded Hershey, 3-2, at Dallastown in a quarterfinal match.


The Wildcats had beaten the Trojans 4-1 during their unbeaten regular season.

Holden Koons won at No. 1 singles for Dallastown, while Tyler Lilie and Logan Maddox triumphed at No. 2 doubles. Both Dallastown wins came in straight sets.

Dallastown, however, lost a three-set decision at No. 2 singles and were swept in straight sets at No. 3 singles and No. 1 doubles.


York Catholic 23, New Oxford 7: At New Oxford, Eli Doyle led the Irish by scoring five goals and adding two assists. Also for the Irish, Chandler Hake had five goals and one assist, Dimitri Amalfitano had four goals and six assists, Matt Cassidy had two goals and three assists, Steven Nigro had two goals and two assists and Massimo Antolick had one goal and one assist. York Catholic improved to 12-3 overall and 11-2 in York-Adams Division II. The Irish will be the No. 2 seed in this week's York-Adams League playoffs.

Kennard-Dale 12, Delone Catholic 11 (OT): At Fawn Grove, Wyatt Cairns found the back of the net in extra time to lift the Rams to the home victory. For the game, Cairns scored four goals and added two assists. Also for K-D, Matt Baker scored four goals, while Zack Anderson scored three goals and added two assists.


York Catholic 16, New Oxford 2: At York Catholic, Carlin Mayer led the Irish to the home victory by scoring two goals and adding two assists. Also for the Irish, Amanda Tufano scored three goals, Sarah Mazzur had two goals and one assist and Lo-Lo China, Peyton Feder and Anna Linthicum each scored two goals. The Irish defense held the Colonials to just seven shots on goal for the game. York Catholic is 10-1-1 in the York-Adams League.


West York 75, Eastern York 75 (Tie): At West York, Luke Hoffman broke a school record in the discus with a throw of 193 feet, 3 inches to lead the Bulldogs. Also for West York, Ay'Jaun Marshall won the 110 and 300 hurdles, Shane Kauffman won the 100 and 200 dashes and Jacob Franklin won the triple jump and long jump. For the Golden Knights, Zack Folk won the 1,600 and 3,200, while Nathan Lopez won the 400 and 800 runs.


Eastern York 112.5, West York 37.5: At West York, the Golden Knights captured first in 16 of the 18 events to help them secure the road victory. Individually for the Golden Knights, Hannah Myers won the 400 and 200, Brittany Heistand won the 300 hurdles and pole vault, Ashley Kerr won the shot put and discus and Taylor Courrier won the triple jump and long jump. Eastern finished off a perfect 7-0 York-Adams Division II season. The Knights have won three straight D-II crowns.
