Landon Ness threw a three-hit shutout to lead the Central York baseball team to a 2-0 victory over York-Adams Division II leader Gettysburg on Wednesday.

It was the Warriors' second-straight league loss after starting with seven-straight league triumphs. Gettysburg fell to Division I leader Red Lion on Monday, 9-2.

Ness didn't register a strikeout in his route-going effort and walked two. He needed just 81 pitches.

The Panthers scored both of its runs in the sixth on Nick Myers' two-run single.

Josh Topper pitched well in defeat, allowing four hits and two runs over six innings. He struck out five and walked two.

Gettysburg fell to 9-3 overall and 7-2 in D-II. Central improved to 7-4 overall and 6-3 in Division I.

OTHER BASEBALL

New Oxford 9, Northeastern 8 (13 innings): In a wild game at New Oxford, the hosts scored five runs in the bottom of the 13th to earn the win. Northeastern jumped out to a 4-0 lead after 1 1/2 innings before New Oxford tied it up with a four spot in the fourth. Neither team scored again until the 13th, when Northeastern scored four times before the Colonials plated five runs. Zach Rudisill (three hits, RBI, run), A.J. Baadte (three hits, two runs, RBI) and Colin Miller (three hits, two RBIs) led New Oxford. Northeastern's leaders were Robbie Elzinga (four hits, double, triple, three RBIs, run), Dalton Ream (two hits, double, two RBIs, run) and Jacob Cederberg (two hits, two runs). Northeastern's Devin Seiger pitched 3 2/3 shutout innings in relief.

Red Lion 8, Dover 4: At Red Lion, Tyler Burchett pitched four innings of four-hit shutout ball, striking out seven and walking one to get the win. Cole Daugherty (two hits, double, two runs, two RBIs) and Patrick Daugherty (two hits, double, RBI, run) led the Lions' offense. Zach Altland (two hits, triple, two runs), Trevor Staub (two hits, RBI, run), Trey Neiman (two hits), Joe Morrett (two hits) and Jeremy Bentzel (two hits, run) led Dover. Red Lion improved to 10-2 overall and 8-2 in York-Adams Division I.

Susquehannock 8, York Tech 5 (8 innings): At Spry, the Warriors improved to 12-1 overall and 9-0 in York-Adams Division III, but it wasn't easy.  Alec Kramer (three hits, double, three runs, RBI) led the Susquehannock offense, while Sam Odegaard doubled and drove in two runs. Josh Bobbitt got the win on the mound, pitching three innings and allowing one run with seven strikeouts and a walk.

SOFTBALL

Central York 1, Gettysburg 0: At Gettysburg, Courtney Coppersmith pitched a one-hit shutout and struck out 16 to power the Panthers to the win. Coppersmith walked two and also had two of Central's six hits. Natalie. Craig doubled and drove in the Panthers' only run in the seventh. Karly Fink also had two Central hits. Faith Boone pitched a six-hit complete game for Gettysburg. Central improved to 11-1 overall and 8-1 in York-Adams Division I.

Dallastown 5, Susquehannock 2: At Dallastown, after giving up two runs in the first inning, Kelsie Merriman settled in and went the rest of the way without allowing a run as the Wildcats collected the win. Merriman gave up six hits, struck out five and didn’t issue a walk. Sarah Deller had two hits for the Wildcats. Tyler Williams had a pair of hits for the Warriors. Dallastown (8-6 overall) improved to 8-2 in York-Adams Division I. Susquehannock leads D-II at 4-4 and is 5-6 overall.

Red Lion 5, Dover 2: At Red Lion, the Lions broke a 2-2 tie when they plated three runs in the bottom of the sixth. Hailey Inguanti led the Lions by throwing a complete game, striking out five and walking one. Teammates Taylor Radziewicz, Megan Teal and Bri Gozalez each connected for a double.

York Tech 6, York Suburban 5 (8 innings): At Spry, Mariah Hilbert pitched a complete game, allowing just one earned run, to get the win. She struck out eight and walked two. Alexis Fournier had three hits, two runs scored and one RBI for the winners.

GIRLS' LACROSSE

York Catholic 17, York Suburban 0: At Suburban, Anna Linthicum scored a game-high three goals, while teammates Lauren China, Peyton Feder and Sarah Mazzur scored two goals each for the Irish, who improved to 7-1-1 in York-Adams League action.

BOYS' TENNIS

Spring Grove 5, York Country Day 0: At Spring Grove, Jeff Bauer, Luke Senft and Denis Eicholtz each earned straight-set singles wins for the Rockets.
