PREP: K-D hands Gettysburg its first baseball loss
Kennard-Dale went on the road and handed Gettysburg its first baseball loss of the season on Tuesday afternoon, 8-5.
The Rams improved to 8-2 overall with the non-league triumph, while the Warriors fell to 8-1.
K-D trailed 5-3 before scoring five runs over the final two innings to grab the win.
Ben Stewart picked up the win, allowing two earned runs over six innings. Sean Fletcher pitched a shutout seventh to get the save.
Joey Thomas (three hits, double, two RBIs, run), Matt Moscynski (two hits, two runs, two RBIs), Ryan Goff (two hits, double, run) and Ben Lowe (double, two RBIs, run) led the K-D attack.
York Catholic 6, Fairfield 4: At York Catholic, the Irish erased an early 3-1 hole. Dillon Hippensteel had a triple for York Catholic, while Luke Kordaz drove in a team-high two runs and Will Catterall picked up the win on the mound, pitching five innings of one-run ball in relief.
York Tech 8, Steel-High 2: At Harrisburg, six different Tech players drove in a run, while Luke Greisler was the only player on the team to record an extra-base hit with a double.
Kennard-Dale 16, York Tech 0 (3 innings): At Spry, Brittany Orwig pitched a two-hit, three-inning shutout for K-D. Jaedyn McKeon (three hits, two RBIs, two runs) paced the Rams' 16-hit attack. Crystal Mullins, Amber Belt, Megan Gereny, Kristen Stewart and Chloe Parker added two hits apiece.
Spring Grove 5, West York 0: At Spring Grove, Hailey Kessinger pitched a six-hit shutout, striking out seven and walking none, to lead the winners. Caraline Cornman (two hits, two runs), Hannah Gartrell (two hits, double, two RBIs) and Julia Wivell (homer, two RBIs) paced the Rockets' offense. Gabrielle Illyes pitched a complete game for West York, allowing three earned runs.
Dover 16, Bermudian Springs 1 (5 innings): At York Springs, the York County Eagles rolled past the Adams County Eagles, ending the game by mercy rule. Dover's Taylor Lamparter roped a triple at the plate and struck out 12 as the winning pitcher.
Fairfield 15, York Catholic 4: At York Catholic, the Green Knights broke open a tie game with five runs in the fifth and six runs in the seventh. Fairfield’s Ryleigh Bolyard drove in a game-high four runs, including a home run, while Kaitlyn Kursch had three RBIs. Rebecca Baum drove in two of York Catholic’s four runs, while also hitting a triple.
Central York 4, Gettysburg 1: At Emigsville, the Panthers swept the singles and split the doubles. Lohan Rossi, Mike Visco and Omkar Kane each won in singles for Central, while the doubles team of Cameron Hughes/Bryan Stanley prevailed at No. 1.
York Catholic 4, Bermudian Springs 1: At York Springs, the Fighting Irish took two of three singles matches and swept the doubles. Nicholas Gingerich and Hui Yang won in singles for Catholic, while T.J. McGraw/Nicholas Anzalone and Joey Shwamb/Seung Ho Jung took care of business in doubles.
Susquehannock 3, Biglerville 2: At Biglerville, the Warriors received a singles victory from Dominic Snyder, while Colton Mumley and Xander Holloway won the No. 1 doubles match and Zach Bream and Ian McDonald won the No. 2 doubles match.
Northeastern 3, South Western 2: At Manchester, the Bobcats took two of three singles points and split the doubles points. Josh Sanderson and Alec Schroter each won in singles for Northeastern, while the doubles team of ColinWunsch/Lance Fries won at No. 1.
Delone Catholic 4, Dover 1: At Hanover, Truman Metz won at No. 3 singles for Dover's only point.
York Suburban 3, Eastern York 0: At Suburban, the Trojans swept the Golden Knights, 25-10, 25-8, 25-11. Suburban was led by Jack Schultz’s 11 kills, Nick Bowman’s 11 digs and Noah Chojnacki’s 14 assists. Koury Green had three blocks for Eastern. The Trojans won the JV match, 2-0.
Spring Grove 3, West York 0: At West York, the visitors triumphed, 25-22, 31-29, 25-19. Noah Wilson (10 kills), Luke Hoffnagle (18 assists, six digs) and Mason Staub (eight kills, five digs) paced the Rockets. West York's leaders were Jacob May (30 assists, nine digs), Kenton Meckley (17 kills, four digs) and Edwin Quintanilla (13 digs). Spring Grove won the JV match, 2-0.
Dover 3, New Oxford 1: At New Oxford, the Eagles pulled out a 32-30, 25-20, 25-27, 25-21 win. Hunter Shank led Dover with 18 kills, while Zach Noll had 41 assists and J.T. Crossan came up with 14 digs. Dover won the JV match, 2-1.
Dallastown 3, Kennard-Dale 0: At Fawn Grove, the Wildcats rolled, 25-10, 25-9, 25-14. Mason Figdore had 10 digs, while Nathan Darr had nine kills and Peyton Ranck finished with 19 assists. No stats were reported for K-D. Dallastown won the JV match, 2-0.
Red Lion 3, Susquehannock 1: At Red Lion, the home team won, 19-25, 25-22, 25-9, 25-17. Tristan Fuentes (13 kills, six digs), Blake Hildebrand (14 kills), Jake Patterson (11 digs), Chris Muller (19 digs, 35 assists) and Colby Myers (17 digs) paced the winners. For Susquehannock, Jake Williams (seven kills, 11 digs) and Reese Jackson (20 assists) led the way. Susquehannock won the JV match, 2-0.
