Kennard-Dale won the 2016 Pennsylvania State Coaches Powerlifting Association RAW team state championship recently at Glen Mills Schools in Concordville.

The team’s third state title was earned against teams from Forrest Hills, Salisbury High School (Allentown), Shamokin, Cheltenham and Central York. Other schools that Kenanrd-Dale had competed with earlier in year, but didn’t bring a full team, included Glen Mills, Abington and York Suburban. Nearly 200 lifters from all over the state took part in this year’s event.

K-D team members include Destiny DeLara, Julia Markley, Madeline Armeni, Noah Hulslander, Danny Eagle, Jake Devereaux, Dalton Stike, Sam Gordon, Jonathan Rineholt, Ryan McNutt, Marc Partee, Matt Mercer, Brian White and Zack McFatridge.

The category the Rams compete in is for lifters who choose to wear only a supportive belt during competition.

Eagle (148 junior varsity), McNutt (198 varsity), McNutt (198 varsity), Partee (242 varsity), Mercer (242 junior varsity) and McFatridge (super heavyweight, junior varsity) each won their respective divisions for individual state championships. Devereaux, McNutt, Partee and McFatridge set new state records during the event.

The Rams used a third-place finish at a team competition earlier this year in Allentown as motivation for their most recent title. Future goals for the team include qualifying athletes to attend the USA Powerlifting National High School Championship, to be held next year in Scranton.
