A bomb threat at New Oxford Senior High School on Tuesday caused an evacuation and the postponement of some sporting events against York County schools, authorities said.

Eastern Adams Regional Police Chief Francis Staab said someone found a threatening note in one of the school's bathrooms around 2:20 p.m., and the school was evacuated by 2:30 p.m., which is right around dismissal time.

Officers searched the area, finding no evidence of danger, he said.

"It took about an hour and a half," Staab said. "We searched the whole school with a police K-9."

All after-school events were postponed for the evening. That included four varsity high school athletic events.

Spring Grove was scheduled for 4:15 p.m. varsity baseball and softball games at New Oxford on Tuesday, as well as a 6:30 p.m. varsity girls' lacrosse match.

In addition, the Dallastown varsity boys' volleyball team was set to play at New Oxford at 7 p.m.

The events will be rescheduled for dates to be determined.
