LOCAL NOTES: Ricks named all-state
York Catholic senior Brooke Ricks has been named to the Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association Class A All-State Team.
Ricks was a libero for the Fighting Irish, helping the team capture the District 3-A championship.
She also helped the Irish advance to the PIAA Class A quarterfinals.
Ricks plans to play volleyball for Elizabethtown College.

York Catholic AA Hall of Fame to add six: The York Catholic High School Athletic Assocation Hall of Fame is adding six new members.
The six new members are: Carlos Castellanos (volunteer), Daniel Javitt (2004, athlete), Sean Johnston (2006, athlete), John Miles (1988, athlete), Milner Sosa (coach) and Jackie (Snyder) Stubbs (1982, volunteer).
The induction ceremony is set for Saturday, Jan. 9, before the start of the girls' varsity basketball game vs. Eastern York, which is set for a 2:30 p.m. tip-off.
York Catholic grad hits milestone: York Catholic High School graduate Rachel Forjan scored the 1,000th point of her college career over the weekend.
Forjan hit the milestone in Elizabethtown College's 56-36 win over Merchant Marine. She finished with eight points in the game and became the 25th player in E-Town women's basketball history to reach the mark. The Blue Jays are 6-2 overall and 3-0 in the Landmark Conference. Forjan leads the Jays in scoring at 15.6 points per game.
York Catholic AA Bingo set: The York Catholic High School Athletic Association will hold Bingo on Sunday, Jan. 3, at the high school.
The doors open at noon and games begin at 2 p.m. The cost is $30 at the door and includes 15 paper cards. Additional strips of three are available for $3 each. There are two $500 jackpots and one $1,000 jackpot. Refreshments will be available for purchase.

Central's Chatterton second at Penn Manor Tournament: Central York's Dylan Chatterton finished second on Saturday at the Penn Manor Tournament.
Chatterton fell in the 145-pound finals to Gov. Mifflin's Zachary Sheets, 6-3.
Orion Mustin (third, 138) and Isaiah Dickson (fourth, 182) also earned top-four finishes for the Panthers.
Spring Grove's Baker takes title at U.S. Air Force Indian Classic: Spring Grove's Clay Baker won the 106-pound championship over the weekend at the U.S. Air Force Indian Classic in Tennessee.
Baker earned a 5-4 decision over Tennessee High's Trent Nelson. Dalton Rohrbaugh (113 pounds) and Josh Cribbs (195 pounds) added third-place finishes for the Rockets.
Red Lion's Zach Shaffer and Jared Schell each placed second in the same event. Shaffer wrestled at 182 pounds, while Schell wrestled at 285.
Ace recorded at Out Door: Danny Escaro had a hole-in-one on Friday at Out Door Country Club.
He aced the 129-yard second hole. It was witnessed by Rich Guillmette, Richard Sterling and Dick Bricker.
