The York College baseball team got a great start from junior Will Grega and an offensive explosion to earn an 18-7 Capital Athletic Conference win over Frostburg State University on Wednesday in York.
York improved to 14-13-1 overall and 7-6 in the CAC. FSU fell to 17-10 and 5-7.
The Spartan offensive leaders were Grant Oberholtzer (3 for 4, three runs, four RBIs, two doubles), Zach Hossler (3 for 4,r un scored, four RBIs), Seth Brosius (3 for 5, run, RBI), Garrett Southern (2 for 3, two runs, two RBIs) and Kennard-Dale grad Collin Crowell (2 for 5, three runs).
Grega went seven innings, allowing seven hits and one earned run to even his record at 3-3.
The win snapped a six-game losing streak against FSU.
Lacrosse teams triumph: The York College lacrosse teams also got the best of Frostburg State, with the men's team winning, 8-6, at Frostburg, while the women's team won at home, 22-4.
The York men, ranked No. 2 in the nation, improved to 14-1 overall land 6-0 in the CAC. FSU fell to 9-7 and 4-3.
Matt Whitcher (three goals, assist) and Hunter Davis (two goals) paced the York attack. Landry Marshall made seven saves.
The York women improved to 10-3 overall and 5-1 in the CAC. FSU fell to 5-9-1 and 2-5.
The Spartans were led by Regan Cook (three goals, three assists), Caitlin Rankin (four goals, assist) and Melissa Meehling (two goals, three assists).
