It took a little longer than expected, but Ginger Lewis’ second no-hitter of the year was well worth the wait Thursday when the York College softball team earned a 1-0 victory against visiting Penn State Harrisburg.
The Spartans won the first game of Thursday’s doubleheader in the bottom of the 10th inning by executing a suicide squeeze. Savannah Galati laid down the bunt, allowing pinch-runner Quinn Fisher to score from third.
Lewis finished off her 10 innings of work with eight strikeouts and one walk.
The Spartans broke out the bats in the second game, capping the doubleheader sweep with a 13-2 victory. Galati went 3 for 3 with four RBIs, a double and two runs scored.
York is 15-5 overall and 2-0 in in the Capital Athletic Conference. Penn State Harrisburg drops to 9-7 and 2-2.
