The York College baseball team got off to a rough start during Sunday's game with Denison at the Hampden-Sydney College Classic in Hampden-Sydney, Virginia.

The Spartans gave up five runs to start the game and never could recover during a 7-0 loss to Denison.

York surrendered five runs on six hits and an error in the top of the first frame. It was part of a tough luck loss that saw Spartans starter Will Grega go five innings while giving up 12 hits. Grega also surrendered five runs, three earned, and struck out five and walked just one.

The Spartans were held to just two hits on the day as Denison's Taylor Perrett tossed seven innings of one-hit ball while striking out five and walking three. Caleb Struewing came in for the other two innings and gave up the other hit.

Next up for the Spartans is their 2018 home opener on Tuesday against Franklin & Marshall with first pitch scheduled for 3 p.m.
