Dalton Myers named Spartan Athlete of Week, helps York College men to No. 25 ranking

York College men’s basketball player Dalton Myers is the Spartan Athlete of the Week after leading York to a big victory against No. 12 Swarthmore Wednesday.

Myers scored 22 points, grabbed four rebounds, recorded an assist and blocked a shot during the 83-79 win. The triumph was the Spartans’ second over a ranked opponent this season. Myers was 7 of 13 from the floor, a mark that included 3 of 7 from beyond the arc. He was 5 of 6 from the free-throw line.

His performance pushed him up the school’s career scoring list. Myers is tied for 16th all-time with 1,149 points.

Myers sports an 18.1 points-per-game average and also averages 6.5 rebounds per game. Myers’ is shooting 57 percent from the floor, 45.2 percent from 3-point range and 75.8 percent from the line. He is fifth in the Capital Athletic Conference in scoring, fourth in field-goal percentage, fifth in 3-point field-goal percentage, seventh in free-throw percentage and eighth in free throws made per game.

The Spartans (8-0, 4-0 CAC) head to Dickinson Tuesday. York is ranked No. 25 in the d3hoops.com NCAA Division III men's basketball poll. That is the first time York has been ranked since 2006, when the Spartans ended the season at No. 18 after a 25-4 campaign.
