The York College basketball teams kicked off Capital Athletic Conference play on Wednesday, Nov. 29, with convincing road victories over Wesley

At Dover, Delaware, the Spartans dominated the first three quarters to cruise to an easy 97-53 women's win over the Wolverines.

York is now 4-1 on the season and 1-0 in the CAC, while Wesley dropped to 2-3 and 1-1.

The Spartans won the game's first three quarters, putting up at least 23 points in each of them to grab a commanding lead. By the end of the first quarter, York led by 13 and that lead only grew to 30 as the Spartans outscored the Wolverines, 50-20, by halftime.

The hot shooting by York continued into the third quarter, when it stretched its advantage to 35 points heading into the game's final 10 minutes.

Red Lion High School graduate Morgan Kuehne led all scorers in the game with 17 points and finished a rebound shy of a double-double. She was joined in double figures by Sam Mocniak and Susquehannock grad Katie Wagner, who each finished with 15.

Reich leads York men to win: In the men's game, Blayde Reich's big game helped York overcome a slow start and secure a CAC-opening win over Wesley, 97-79.

Reich scored a game-high 30 points and was one of five Spartans (4-0, 1-0 CAC) in double figures. The Wolverines fell to 1-3 and 1-1.

York overcame an early deficit to lead by three at halftime and then pulled away in the second half behind a 50-35 surge. 

Dalton Myers added 21 points and 11 rebounds for the Spartans, while Central York grad Jared Wagner poured in 14, Jason Bady had 13 and Spring Grove grad Darin Gordon scored 11.
