A slow start led to the York College women's basketball team suffering its first loss of the 2017-18 season on Sunday, Nov. 26.

Dallastown graduate Katie McGowan recorded a double-double for York College on Sunday, Nov. 26, in the team's 65-60 loss to Lebanon Valley College. McGowan had 10 points and 11 rebounds for the Spartans, who suffered their first loss of the season.

The Spartans (3-1) were outscored by 13 in the opening 10 minutes at Lebanon Valley College and couldn't make up the difference, falling 65-60.

York immediately responded after the brutal first quarter and pulled to within a pair by halftime. However, the Dutchmen (3-2) outscored the Spartans, 18-14, in the third quarter to extend their lead to six going into the final frame. York failed to mount a comeback in the final quarter.

The Spartans had four starters register double-digit points, led by Red Lion High School graduate grad Morgan Kuehne, who finished with 14. Sam Monciak and Susquehannock grad Katie Wagner each added 11 points, while Dallastown grad Katie McGowan posted a double-double, scoring 10 points and pulling down 11 rebounds.

However, York only got 14 points from the rest of its lineup. LVC's Emily Mealy was too much to handle for the Spartans, recording game-highs in points (22) and rebounds (13).

York will be back in action on Wednesday, Nov. 29, when it travels to Wesley in its Capital Athletic Conference opener at 6 p.m.
