Behind double-digit scoring performances by three York County products, the York College women's basketball team kicked off the 2017-18 season with a 67-61 home victory over McDaniel College on Wednesday, Nov. 15.

Red Lion graduate Morgan Kuehne, Dallastown grad Katie McGowan and Susquehannock grad Katie Wagner were the only three Spartans to reach double figures for the game, but were all York needed for the win.

The Spartans raced out to a 12-point lead by the end of the first quarter, but saw that lead cut in half by halftime, leading 36-30. A strong third quarter extended York's cushion back up to 12 going into the fourth and was enough to withstand the Green Terror's fourth-quarter push.

Kuehne and McGowan each poured in game high's of 14 points, while Wagner was just behind them with 13 points. Kuehne and McGowan each also pulled in seven rebounds and Wagner, again, just trailed them with six.

The Spartans will be back in action on Friday, Nov. 17 at home against The College of New Jersey in the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic.
