Both the York College men's and women's lacrosse teams have known for a while that they'd both be representing the school in the NCAA Division III lacrosse tournament this month.
On Sunday night, they both found out who, when and where they'll be playing in the upcoming championships.
On the men's side, the Spartans (16-3) will host Morrisville State (10-5) in the second round on Wednesday, May 10. No time has been announced for the game.
The first round of the tournament is reserved for two games between four teams who will play to get into the main 32-team draw.
The winner of York's contest will advance to the third round, where it will take on the winner of Sewanee (10-6) vs. Lynchburg (13-6). York made it to the quarterfinals of last year's tournament before losing to Gettysburg.
On the women's side, the Spartans don't quite yet know their exact opponent, but it's been whittled down to two teams.
Due to its strong season, York (14-3) will host the winner of a first round play-in game between St. John Fisher and Morrisville State on Sunday. St. John Fisher (13-5) and Morrisville State (14-4) will play on Saturday.
The winner of the the Spartans' game on Sunday will advance to the third round to face the winner of Messiah vs. SUNY Cortland.
Spartans close out baseball season with loss: The York College baseball season came to an end on Sunday with the team's six consecutive defeat.
The Spartans dropped a 10-2 result to New York University on the road, capping their season with back-to-back losses to NYU. York lost Saturday's game, 10-3.
With the loss, the Spartans finish the year 18-23 overall.
