The York College baseball team erased a big deficit early in Thursday's 12-7 win at Penn State Berks.
After trailing 5-0 through the first two innings, the Spartans' bats came to life in the fourth. York struck twice in the fourth and then scored four times in the fifth to briefly grab a 6-5 advantage. However, the Lions (14-16) got the run right back to level the score at 6-6. The two sides traded runs in the sixth to make it 7-7 and, from that point forward, it was all Spartans. A three-run seventh and two-run eighth put York (17-17) ahead for good,
The Spartans pounded out 16 hits, including three-hit afternoons from Logan Countryman, Seth Brosius and Zach Hossler. Each also doubled, while Countryman and Brosius, along with Rob Acierno, each belted homers. Brosius drove in three runs.
