The York College men's and women's lacrosse teams are both ranked among the top 10 teams in NCAA Division III.
Wednesday, both York teams lived up to those lofty rankings with easy non-conference victories.
The 10th-ranked women's team earned an 11-5 victory over visiting Dickinson in a non-league contest at Kinsley Field.
The fifth-ranked men's team, meanwhile, captured a 20-8 win at Elizabethtown.
In the women's contest, York led just 6-4 at halftime, but pulled way with a 5-1 second-half surge to improve to 2-0. It was Dickinson's season opener.
Meghan Fox had four goals and an assist to pace the winners, while Rachel Saks added two goals and two assists and Devin Hursey collected two goals and an assist. Regan Cook had two goals for York, while Melissa Meehling had York's other score. Charlotte Wright made seven saves to get the win in goal.
In the men's game, Elizabethtown jumped out to a 3-0 lead before York took complete control.
Brendan McGrath (five goals, two assists), Hunter Davis (four goals, one assist) and Thomas Pfeiffer (goal, four assists) powered the York attack. Cameron Leech (goal, two assists), Brett Altenburg (two goals), Dillon Hannah (two goals) and Ryan Cook (two assists) also had multi-point games for the Spartans. Landry Marshall made two saves to get the win in goal.
York improved to 3-0. Elizabethtown fell to 1-1.
