York College's Blayde Reich gets CAC basketball honor
York College junior Blayde Reich was named the Capital Athletic Conference Player of the Week after leading the Spartans to a 2-0 record last week.
Included in that run was a victory against Salisbury, which was ranked No. 12 in NCAA Division III, on Saturday.
In the upset win over the Sea Gulls, the 6-foot, 5-inch Reich converted a 3-point play with 39 seconds left to give the Spartans the lead. He scored 18 points on 6-of-9 shooting from the floor, while also going 6 for 7 from the free throw line, grabbing six rebounds and finishing with a pair of steals.
During the week’s first game, Reich recorded 16 points, four rebounds, a block, a steal and an assist as York snapped a five-game losing streak at Frostburg State.
For the week, Reich averaged 17 points and 5.0 rebounds. For the season, Reich is averaging 11.8 points and 5.0 rebounds per game.
