York College's Ryan Flynn named Spartan Athlete of Week

York College senior wrestler Ryan Flynn has been named the Spartan Athlete of the Week for the week ending Nov. 6.

York College's Ryan Flynn, top, is a three-time National Wrestling Coaches Association Scholar All-American.

Flynn led York to a fourth-place finish at the King’s College Monarch Invitational on Saturday. Flynn won the 133-pound weight class championship at the event.

The third-ranked 133-pounder in NCAA Division III opened his day with a pin over Roger Williams' Jason Jacobi. Flynn then posted a 14-1 major decision over Kings' Jake Daniel to advance to the quarterfinals. Flynn continued his roll with a 5-2 win over Wilkes' Edwin Fiscal.

In the semifinals, Flynn recorded a 4-0 victory over Scranton's Nike Ciaccia, before earning his first championship of the year with an 11-2 major decision win over Roger Williams' Matt Elias.

Flynn now has 96 career wins. The mechanical engineering major is a three-time National Wrestling Coaches Association Scholar All-American.
